I'm not so much sure as love him like you mean, but she first met him when she was 13 and sang him this song at his birthday party and from then on would always sing it whenever she saw him. In fact when she first sang "Dear Mr. Gable" at his birthday party on MGM's lot, that's when she was signed to a contract, after hearing her voice.

Love Clark Gable!! Damn he was sooooo handsome sexy! He was a great but modest actor. He always said " I was just a lucky guy from Ohio" or something to that effect.
