i really love the dixie chicks! and for all the people who realy care about the stupid political crap, bush is an asshole. DIXIE CHICK ARE BY FAR A GREAT BAND, AND ARE PRACTICALLY THE ONLY COUNTRY I LISTEN TO! they are great!

You guys are giving the Chcks WAY too much credit, both for this song and for their courage. Richard Leigh wrote the song, not the Dixie Chicks. They just sang it. Richard's version is by far the best, even though it was recorded by at least three other artists before the Dixie Chicks. And what was so courageous? Natalie said was that she was ashamed to be from the same state at the President. That's not courageous. Half the country was saying that. It was just an immature personal attack.

I'm sorry? Half of the United States were saying that in 2003, like she did here in London? I don't think so:) In that early stage it was very courageous for Nathalie to say such a thing. Actually it was very immature for a country as the USA that some music station did boycot their music over such a comment.

Courageous to say she was ashamed to be from the same state as him? Puhleeze. Courageous would have been for her to come out and make an anti-war statement. That would have been courageous. She didn't until she was already toast. And "the country" didn't boycott them. Radio plays what their listeners want to hear. Nobody wanted to hear them anymore. It was their fans who boycotted them, loud and clear. The people who buy the records and tickets boycotted them.

Maybe you are right that it wasn't that courageous. But immature??? I really dont think that saying your opinon is immature. Isn't that freedom of speech? A right for everybody?

The difference is, quickchick, me saying it(which I did) is one thing. I didn't risk anything. I didn't lose anything. The Chicks knew what was going to happen when Natalie said what she said. They were just about the only ones in America back then, willing to lose something, to stand up against this abortion of a war. That's a fact. Democrats didn't and the media damn sure didn't. They all ran and hid. The Chicks spoke thier minds. They're American heroes.

Anyone out there that's in campaign mode and willing to get through to Hillary's camp. Inform her if she got the CHIX to perform for her at a fund raiser tto eliminate her debt, she would get a zillion dollars of free advertising to pump up Barack. Just imagine how every news channel, cable. network, newspaper in the country would drown out the OLD FOGIE MCCAIN, for weeks if the CHIX showed up for a stadium concert and just sang their greatest hits, without saying a word politicaly. dreaming!

Can't wait till Hillary and Barack have the courage to invite the CHIX to participate at a Political event, for no other reason than being great americans who speak the truth and are great ambassodors to American Music excellance and prove to the G.Bush Rednecks how stupid they now look for Dissing the CHIX.

Amen, Jack! Scary talented these gals are. And, they were about the only people in the country willing to lose something, by speaking their minds. They're American heroes.
