This brief 'loadsamoney' boom pales in comparison to the 90s and early 2000's

Being accused of blinkered thinking by you is like being accused of having an unhealthy interest in children by Gary Glitter. You've constantly failed to acknowledge that the Labour government has presided over one of the longest unbroken periods of growth in British economic history. You talk about the mid 80s, this was a very brief success which expired very quickly and was largely confined to the South East.

thelondonupstart - you continue with your blinkered thinking, believing what Brown tells you. It's a lie now & has been a lie ever since he was Chancellor. You're not listening... he's stealing money from your pockets as we speak now. If he was an eastender he'd be in jail. The mid 80's were very, very good as I've stated but you've ignored - you weren't there but claim to know more than I. Crime under this rag tag occupiers of the premier seat is significantly more than it's ever been.

Nothing to do with believing what he says, the OECD and World Bank backs this up, for much of his tenure we were within the top 5 riches countries in the world, Spain not one of those above us in the table. Were we one of the top 5 riches nations when Thatcher was there, I think not.

er yeah.....tell me a time when the tories took 11 years to squander wealth. They took nearly a decade to get anything that look remotely like a boom and bust followed within 18 months.

Crime was high under the tories as well, Brixton riots not ring a bell? If there is a malaise it started a lot earlier than 1997.

thelondonupstart - you seem to find a lot of things rhetorically "funny". If I waste a tenner tomorrow ie squander it, it makes no difference. If I do the same for 11 years then I'm bankrupt, which is what Gordon Brown has done. He's stolen from your pockets & amazingly you don't even realise it, propped up his shambles of a treasury tenure by constantly telling you that he's the best that's ever been & you still believe it. What is it going to take to wake you up?

thelondonupstart- and yes, the overall economic well being of the area doesn't concern me at all. I had the balls to abandon the Uk with my wife & kids when I saw what another Labour government was doing to our nation. I sincerely hope that none of your relatives get stabbed by the outcome of what's happening over there (that isn't sarcasm). Is that the life you want? Is that the life you want for your children?

thelondonupstart - this is you making things up again. The miners had huge redundancy pay-outs which on it's own created wealth whilst they were spending it. You were barely alive in the 80's & can know nothing about it first hand - I do I was there & I know what it was like. Your arrogance betrays you sometimes.

Funny, most economic observers state that the Esat Midlands went through an economic decline through most of the 80s and 90s and seems to have undergone improvement in recent years. But then again I doubt the overall economic wellbeing of the area is of importance in comparision to your own.
