The editor of car and driver has no clue what he was talking about towards the end of the clip. he said that the 3.8sfi turbo engine was placed in the Typhoon and Syclone. Thats incorrect as it was only used in the Turbo regals and Turbo TA. The Sy and Ty had a 4.3ltr turbo charged engine.
thank you, 4 that observation cuz i thought the same thing!!! if im not mistaken the sy/ty engines were vortech v6's based on the 1st gen chevy small block.
Yes, you are correct. All of the 4.3ltr engines were "based" on the GM smallblock lineup. They just designed it with two cylinders missing. The 4.3 Vortec was a potent engine to begin with, and strapping on an Water to Air Intercooled Turbo was a perfect idea. The are great trucks, but VERY unreliable once Modified. They always seem to have alot of knock and detonation.

very good i was thinking that guy was crazy my grandpa owned a typhoon
