shot put oldfield

I dont understand I thought Oldfield had the world record of 75 Feet Even.... set in 1975

Oldfield's mark of 75' was set while he was competing in the fledgling "Pro" Track & Field circuit. Even though it was an officially registered mark, it didn't count as a record because the governing bodies didn't recognize any marks made by "professionals". Actually getting paid was considered evil back then.

I was at this meet (the Jenner Inv. San Jose )and was going to be in it ,but it was less than 10 days til the Olympic trials and my coach wouldn't let me. Oldfield was considered washed up by this time , but he responded to the tough competition with an American record! VERY GOOD VIDEO>
