you have to judge reliability off of used cars.Consumer reports did a test of cars from 1998-2007,the cars had to have been on the road for 3 years to even make it into the test. Only 4 out of 66 cars that made the most reliable list were American. However on the most unreliable list 25 out of 33 WAS american .

pyrokidd- If you actually did your homework and researched and compared car companies, car years, car make, and car size from the U.S. and Japan you'd be surprised at how much better American cars do than their Japanese counterparts.
Bottom line:
-Some American cars are fine while others are not.
-Some Japanese cars are fine while others are not.
For instance I would much rather buy a Buick over a Suzuki. Buick scores MUCH higher on quality ratings while Suzuki rates very low.

that is true, and yes some cars are finer than others. the toyota corolla is said to be the worlds best selling production car.
|
What some people don't know about the corolla is that the 1987-1988 Chevy Novas were nothing but corollas with a diff. grill and tail light assy. I have even pulled the motor out of a 88 corolla and put it in a 88 nova, without changing anything, lol.

I know I ain't pyrokidd but u are honestly grasping at straws here with this, lol. U need to read the facts yourself, put out by consumer report, fact is out of 66 cars tested for reliabiality only 4 american cars made it. Not all of the others were jap rigs but most of em were.
|
Hmmm, interesting personal opinion that you have there. Some North American autos rank better than Honda. Not sure why you think North American companies can't compete when they perform better than Honda and other Japanese makes.
|
Alright u get lemons in any of em But as a do it yourself guy,I have worked on lots of both.Had 4.0 jeep engine that had 300,000 miles on it,I had to use a ring groove cutter to get the pistons out, another was a old 1.8 L series datsun(nissan)that was into the 220,000 mile range all I did to it was put new rings and rod and main bearings and it took better than the jeep. The japs used better metal in their cylinders,This is what I mean by forced America to do better.
