Great! u guys hasve to see Yugo Nakamura´s work...he is the greatest web designer in the world.

He's not a web designer at all - He uses flash for everything he does, which is as simple as drag and drop. You could call him an interface designer I guess...

FLASH is not that EASY or SIMPLE as DRAG and DROP. if you know what is FLASH all about, it is more than DRAG and DROP. have you heard the FLASH / ACTION SCRIPT? it is not that easy as you think.

If you think "the matter is knowledge and accessibility about a webpage" easily, so you are unique. If you think "a good webpage means impressive 3d flash animations, ajax tech., etc..", so you're not unique. When we lost the technology, only "text" will be left

Also we've been told that we aren't special because we can create a webpage because anyone can with the wysiwyg editors nowadays. Instead we've been told that out skills are in creating unique designs and knowing what users want e.g. how to correctly links pages what fonts to use (sans-serif what fontsize for elderly people) where people look first on websites (we have an eye tracking lab.) So although this study looks cool I don't think you are unique if you can just create a webpage.

Well I don't know what level education this is but I live in Holland and I am studying Communication and Multimedia design and we had to create a webpage using CSS for layout including a login system, contact form, hit counter, and an update section with the latest updates in PHP after just 4 months of education.

Ok the video was kind of cool, but how do you expect us to take web design from TSTC when TSTC's website itself is laid out using tables and there is 15 meta tags in the header. One would assume that you teach the same bad design techniques as on your website.

the use of the meta tags is ok, but you got right with the table design.. ;) and of course, they use html attributs, such as »bgcolor«. they should use CSS, right?

Yes I know meta tags are ok, but 15? I've never needed to use more than 3. And yes CSS has replaced stylizing your pages with HTML for years. Many, many years.

The question is you have to ask yourself is who designed the main webpage? It wasn't the web department and at the time they weren't even asked. If you go to the WDD's web page it IS xhtml/css complaint with no tables.
