Prior to her first flight in nearly 15 years, XH558 and her crew needed to carry out 2 fast taxy runs. This footage was filmed by the wife of co-pilot Squadron Leader David Thomas. In command was Squadron Leader Al McDicken, with AEO Squadron Leader Barry Masefield.
This was the first time that XH558 had raised her nose in a very long time! The second of the 2 runs was chiefly to test the operation of the Tail Brake Parachute.
Avro Vulcan XH558 is a national heritage asset - she belongs to everyone in the UK. Please help to keep YOUR aeroplane flying for years to come.
