Hey, back in '73 you COULD drive DRUNK.
My old man had 2 75-77 Newport coupes & filled the ashtray fill of beer caps.

1 9 6 8 and 1 9 7 3 huh

That last line... 'who wants to keep a car for 500,000 miles?' is delivered with such dead pan humor... it's awesome. At first I was wondering if Chrysler was comparing themselves to NASA.

And the American co's wonder why biz sux!

But who wants to keep a car for 500,000 miles???

Me! I would love to drive THIS car 500000 miles!

Many taxicab companies got nearly that kind of mileage out of Chrysler's "Slant Six" engine.
Getting 300,000-400,000 miles out of that incredible engine wasn't a rare thing!
My daily driver is a '92 Cherokee (a Chrysler product) which has nearly a quarter million miles.

My folks bought one of these new in the summer of 73, during the first "gas crunch"; sticker price, loaded, was around $9000 - they got it for $4000. They almost couldn't give 'em away back then! It was a great car, the 2nd one I ever drove; had plenty of power; averaged 11 to 15 miles per gallon. Oh, and the digital clock? It was merely numbers printed on revolving drums, like the clock radios had at the time. Wish I could get my hands on one again - I really loved it!

Love to get a mint condition one.
