yes the "greats" were not country. I guess all the millions who turned on hee haw every week and watched roy clark were looking at an amature. he couldnt play at all lol. I dont mean to pick a fight but plenty of country guys can play guitar, maybee not the way you like but they play very well. I am not a huge country fan so please dont say im one sided. I agree malmsteen,van halen, nova, shenkner,satriani,blackmore,and others in rock are superior to most but dont count country out like that.

that is not what im saying at all. Country guitar players are amazing. Well some. That is why i listen to country music cause there are really good players. What i meant was, to most people they think of guitar gods being those guys you said, to most people that is, but i agree with you, some of the best guitar players ever where in country. I am not counting them out at all, country players are definately talented musicians.

Hey..People forget that Johnny Cash was an outstanding guitar player. his music didnt call for power chords or banging licks. but musically he was very good at the guitar..Just my 2 cents is all..:)
