furthermore the F-16 is a small aircraft, and size does matter in this case. the B-1 bomber would defenitly sound louder while breaking the sound barrier. so it's IMPOSSIBLE for that airplane to break the soundbarrier without you hearing it. BTW how in the world can you tell that the plane broke the barriere, do u have proof? answer that question and then we can talk.

well I lived on curacao for a few years. The government allowed the US to patrol the waters of the Netherland Antilles. Operation was called FOL. They were using F16´s to patrol the area wich definetly can break the sound barrier, wich also "accidently" happened. Well let me tell you something about that damn sound the whole fucking island heard it, it was the loudest sound I ever heard in my life. glasses shattered, people were calling in for hours reporting there damage on the radio & tv.

Dude, I'm telling you there is NO way a B1 Lancer ever achieved "Supersonic" speed in or near an airshow. The Lancer will only go that fast at high altitude. It's a 'supersonic' bomber, but you would DEFINITELY hear the boom, even if it was a couple of miles away, because of its size. Also, I have known Lancer pilots who've explained the danger in supersonic flyovers at low altitudes...1st, because of potential damage...and 2nd, because it adds dangerous stress to the frame of the fuselage.

those are some good facts, but it was going supersonic!

The only time that they go supersonic at low altitudes is when they break the sound barrier doing a low level bombing mission.

Those were not 'supersonic' passes.

yh they were

Look, pal. I used to be in the Air Force. If a B1-Lancer made a "Supersonic" (i.e. faster than the speed of sound...) pass, you would here an enormous sonic double boom. Due to its size, a B1 rarely makes supersonic 'on the deck' passes, because the sonic boom would shatter most windows for miles.

If you like it or not it was going supersonic!, plus it didnt break the sound barrier as it felw by. it climbed then came back around after breaking the sound barrier it made its pass; so the boom would not be near any people. As it was climbing it went into cloud cover so i decided to film the 16 thunderbirds, which is why you never heard the boom or saw any shockwaves-because it flew away

if you have any further problems discuss this with the pilots- whom i don't know the names of, or the commentators- Tim Callaway and Colin Wilsher.
