People didn't forget what he did at all.  He just wasn't as good at ruling the country as he was at breaking the shackles of communism. The 'post-communists' that succeeded him weren't communists anymore. In fact, hardly anyone in Poland was ever a real communist. That ideology was absurd to Poles.

Eddy you simply don't know the whole truth. It was no revolution, no spectacular strugle for freedom it was only deal betwean Walesa who sold out his people and the comies. Do not believe Walesa!!! He is/was a trator.

Can communism be repaired? Walesa talks about communism. What he should talk about is the so called "real existing socialism". It is clear that the plannified economy could not work. I know no communist who still defends this economic system. But the system in the former eastern bloc countries had very little to do with communism the way Karl Marx imagined it.
