Note:
Many of these effects might be seen as pure "eye candy". However, some of them like the scaling function (which is the linux adequate of MacOS's Exposé function) will speed up your everyday work.

Ubuntu 8.04.1 on Acer Aspire One.
I replaced the AspireOne Linpus Lite as I cannot find the network sharing and other things. Though I must admit that Linpus Lite has the upperhand in terms of loading time, 15 secs vs. 40+ secs. But in terms of features, i'd go for ubuntu.
UPDATE: 071808
Before you jump on installing the ubuntu or ubuntu netbook remix, here are the flaws:
1. no mic drivers
2. suspend mode not working
3. default ubuntu wifi driver don't work. you need to use madwifi drivers, which is not really easy to install for casual pc users.
4. 40+ sec boot-up time
Anyway, after considering all of these flaws against the loading time of Linpus, which you can now enable advance settings(or the actual settings) via a simple option, i reverted to the original Acer linpus lite.

First video is from "Euro News: No Comment" video podcast, of americans boarding the international space station. Downloaded and viewed in Miro on Ubuntu Feisty. Video followed some from Iraq, then finally the video podcast channel, in german, devoted to Knut (I can't believe the people who visit the zoo give Knut Pumpkins, Fish and Big-Dog-Toys, someone gave Knut a potato sack. Well the most spoiled polar bear. Of course, througout verifying that the video is being shown in Ubuntu, including with the background picture of the Linux penguin sucking the juice out of Windows XP with the slogan "We suck more, guaranteed" on the juice box.
Linux sucks a little bit too, it stalled when I was trying to obtain the USB contents to make ogg video files, but, without rebooting, I was able to use Cntrl-Alt and one of the function keys, to get a console shell up, I logged in as root, and killed my user processes with "kill -9", and was able to login from the xwindows splash screen again. Note, I didn't have to reboot to fix a stall! I have not had the OS crash (completely) on me yet. I've had XP crash quite a few times, but much less than when I had Windows 98.
