This is a review of the NES classic now available to download on Nintendo Wii via the Virtual Console
This is a review from the perspective of this being a VC game and not a review of the NES original.
At the time of uploading, this was the first and only actual vc footage of the game.

Video for hands-on (review-like) on my homepage, www.kimpix.net
I really had high hopes for this games but unfortunatly it turned out to be a big let down like most games nowadays. Maybe I'm getting old but I just didn't get the good old TMNT feeling I was expecting.
C'mon, no co-op in a co-op game? Trapped by invicible walls every 20 feet, forced to fight off wave after wave of identical mindless henchmen?
The way I remember it back on the SNES at least there were some variety and the fights didn't last that long.
Reckon I'll enjoy the movie however ;) |

Ingame footage of TMNT 2007 demo for the PC.
Had to reduce quality to make it a smaller movie to upload. The game itself has sweet graphics great gameplay and fast action a must have for TMNT fans and gamers that like to play a fast acrobatic ninja game. |

Clip from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Manhattan Missions demonstrating initial setup, the newscast screen and first level of Triceraton mission.
Unlike most TMNT games published by Konami during early 90's, this game was developed by American team. In addition, Manhattan Missions is mostly based on the original Mirage comics and the first movie instead of the old cartoon.
In general lot of content are derived from various sources, including possibly even old pen and paper RPG (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness) published by Palladium.
Published only for IBM and compatibles, this is relatively obscure title, although it has several interesting ideas including minor RPG elements (defeated opponents improve attributes of chosen turtle).
These clips were taken using DOSBox 0.72 with emulated soundcard being Sound Blaster 16. The other two clips are:

EDIT: As a minor correction, the team was apparently actually Canadian. |

This is the battle with the Ninja Rats at the end of Level 4-3 in TMNT 2: Battle Nexus (PC version), with the accompanying cutscenes. I was using the Mighty Turtle cheat, but it's not like it's really necessary here -- among other things, the Ninja Rats apparently keep invincibility tokens in their arena for their opponents to use. Gotta admire their confidence! |

Alright, the third video. Now, this is most certainly the farthest ANYONE got to this point. Btw, thanks to a few guys on GameFaqs and the Technodrome forums to hinting about a few of the shortcuts (brother jump then jump to wall, jump to one of the threee poles from the ledge and switching during the fan) |

Running late, but you got the March show. Featured are reviews to Team Fortress 2 for the PC, and Zombies ate my Neighbors for the Super Nintendo. The Play View is back with a look at Part 1 of the NES version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We'll take a look at the Karate Kid animated series, and the Evil Dead and Silent Hill comic books. |

No, I didn't reach the Shredder legitimately -- I'm convinced that the PC version is quite literally *impossible* to beat without cheating -- but the cheat code is off during this battle. Hence my erratic playing; Shredder in this game freaking terrifies me! He takes away like half of your life if he just grazes you. And then there's the ending.
I think Shredder actually looks better here than he did in the NES game, but Splinter and April look positively horrifying. |

A complete playthrough of the level, along with the boss battle against the Elite Guard at the end. I'm not posting it because I think I'm good (I'm not -- at all), but rather to point out the cheapness of the game in certain areas. Seriously, note the platforming sequences with enemies firing arrows, rotating platform puzzles made even more difficult by wonky jumping mechanics and unresponsive controls (I can't imagine trying to get through these parts with four players!), and cheap as heck boss battles. Note that he's not only teleporting behind poor Donny, but also hitting him with an attack that temporarily reverses the player's controls (I guess his spear is tipped with poison or something). To say nothing of the attack where he clones himself. And due to the controls, successful blocks are also fairly difficult to pull off.
This death-free video brought to you by the Mighty Turtle password cheat. |

And here's the final fight against Mega Shredder and his Omega Burst buddies. He seems way easier here than he does in the actual game, but that's likely in part because you only have to fight him once and he doesn't have any environmental hazards to use against you. Isolate him from the Omega Bursts, whale away on him like crazy to finish him off, and then play cleanup afterwards. I like to break out Raph at the end -- it's pretty much the only time I ever use him in the entire tournament. :) |

By special request (!), here's Foot Fight 6 and how to win it (kinda sorta). Basically, you should try to keep Hun towards the bottom of the screen so you can fight him without being interrupted by the archers. It's usually pretty easy to do -- I swear this is like one of two occasions when Hun's been able to knock me back into the fray with those guys -- but if it happens it's not that big a deal because their shots are pretty weak. You could try blocking or dashing away when Hun attacks, but personally I just prefer to hack away at him like crazy until it's over.
Once he's down, go for the archers -- you can take them out here like I did, or use Michelangelo and just block to deflect their arrows. If you do that, they'll eventually kill themselves. :D |

Figured I might as well keep going and do Foot Fight 8! Footmech Splinter isn't usually this hardcore in my experience -- it's almost like he was showing off for the recording software. Seeing as how I have seen Foot sumo go absolutely nuts in a similar fashion, I decided to play it super safe with this one. ;) |

What you're looking at is my my MAME Arcade machine at start up from it's PC and launch directly into MameWah, the software I'm using for it's front end. (Need to hide that taskbar!)
It launches a cool intro video from Cinemarcade.com
The layout I did not make, but when everything is completely working, I will be making my own though similar to what's seen here. I will drop in an image of my machine when it's complete with the changing marquees and title screens.
I am also currently updating the preview title screens to actually show gameplay footage of the selected game.
I don't have the control panel currently hooked up as it's being worked on, so sorry I couldn't move Mikey around in TMNT, but you get the idea of how it works. (You can pause gameplay, fantastic feature!)
At exit of MameWah, the outro video (also from cinemarcade) plays and goes back to windows desktop.

The ninth match of the Foot Fight tournament, featuring Karai and a bunch of Foot tech ninjas! Those guys will seriously mess you up if you let them, so the best thing to do is to take them out as quickly as possible. Karai runs too much and I'm impatient, so I try to dodge her projectiles and stay close to her so that I can really go to town when she does that stupid charging move. Yes, I take damage, but she takes way more!
By the way, it's always good to go into these things with a doppleganger -- if you're lucky you won't need it, but on occasion I find that it comes in handy during this fight when the Foot tech dudes get into their sick kicking rhythm. |

Throw 30 Utroms into the transmat device while Shredder shoots crap at you in this timed level! Honestly, even though the wriggling 3D Utroms look great, I hate this stage. The grabbing and tossing mechanics in the game aren't very good to begin with, so having to perform them multiple times in five minutes even as the Shredder blasts you can be frustrating to say the least. In addition, the Turtles move like molasses when holding an object. This makes sense when they're carrying large barrels full of flammable gas, but here? C'mon! Utroms only weigh 12 lbs. each -- they should be able to grab and chuck those thingies with the greatest of ease.
This level would probably be slightly less annoying with four players, though, as you'd have more Turtles to handle the task of Utrom-tossing. But since they'd all share a single health bar, maybe it wouldn't be terribly helpful after all.
In this video, however, the Mighty Turtle password cheat guards against death. |

Another special request video. I don't really have any extensive tips for this one except to try not to get yourself surrounded, which goes without saying! Dashing is your friend -- but since it's not possible to dash in a direction in which you're not facing at the time, be careful not to accidentally dash *into* the fray.
In the event that you get knocked down, use the downtime to plan your attack. The Foot Elite typically won't surround your downed body (they frequently even give up their advantage while you're down), so taking a nap can sometimes help to get you out of danger. |
