05/10/08 Update: Thanks to everyone for all the great comments, I do love reading them and they have sparked some interesting coversations! I apologize if I don't have time to answer everyone's comment individually! Maybe some fellow youtubers can help out by answering the comments where people are requesting what ep a clip is from. This started out as an innocent little catalogue of my favorite lines from Star Trek Voyager. This is actually the first fanvid I ever attempted and somewhere along the way I noticed it was taking on a life of it's own. I set it aside to do other things that came to mind while I was working on it.
Believe it or not, this WAS a 16 minute vid. I cut it down to meet youtube's requirements. So, if you don't see your favorite line here, that's probably why.
Because of that, video responses encouraged!

Some projects are never finished, just abandoned. Conceived as a followup to the TNG/Dallas mashup, I originally wanted to use just clips of the Voyager crew in the cabana on the holodeck. When that didn't pan out, I wanted to use alien planets with lots of sunshine. And lots of gratuitous sexy poses like Baywatch. Again, I grew weary of harvesting clips from the internet and not finding what I wanted. I just finished it with shots I thought looked nice, not much of a theme left. Titles worked out pretty well though. At least I got Janeway running in slow motion.

My own two un-interesting cents about this episode: I'm a horse person and what stood out like a sore thumb to me is the Devor soldiers decorative belts they wear across their chests. They are so obviously western saddle breastcollars, right off the shelf, no modification at all. I own one just like it. On the one hand, I was like "hmm lazy, low budget day at Paramount studios" on the other, I applaud their ingenuity and adaptability. It obviously works. No one else seemed to notice it. Also, the Kazon always wore horse bits on their belts and their chests were decorated with square halter plates and other obvious harness hardware (which I think they did briefly fess up to in one of the bonus "making of" features on one of the dvd's somewhere.)
Oh, and in the Resolutions episode, where they are unpacking all their "camping equipment" in the beginning, the big grey storage containers are all rubbermaid horse watering troughs, just turned upside down. I have one of those too.
There, I just had to get that off my chest. Hope everyone doesn't mind.

Plot Summary: Voyager, lost thousands of light years away from the Alpha Quadrant, discover a lost probe. This probe contains detailed information for a object known in the computer banks as "The Monolith". While downloading the information from the computer banks, the transfer hijacks Voyager's computer systems. The crew must contend not only the problems that plagues their ship but also the mysteries that await.
**This is my first Final Cut Studio 2 project. It is a small project I've worked on for the last few days. It's an assemblage of Star Trek Voyager and 2001: A Space Odyssey. I tried to create a new idea using old footage. I'm a student training myself to use Final Cut Studio 2. I have a lot of ideas, I hope you like this one. |
