Kenny Brown is a local hero in The Palm Beaches of Florida. Brown is a native of West Palm Beach and became involved over a year ago when he spotted some entangled and hurting pelicans at Boynton Beach. He went to K Mart and bought a $20 net and started rescuing pelicans in need. The task has grown into several hours of rescue after each day's work. It is a thankless task with many fishermen snearing as they consider the Pelican a "flying rat". These majestic birds have a right to live in Florida too. Man's encroachment there is on the verge of wiping out the beautiful Florida Panther. You might say, "Their are plenty of Pelicans!" But remember that there once was plenty of Passenger Pigeons too. Kenny is more than willing to assist any bird in need. Please contact me to find out how you can help. |

Canoing sea stacks. Surf, sea birds, Mola Mola, Sunfish, Brown Pelicans, wild coastal scenery. You don't need a sea kayak to explore the seacoast. Native Americans did it all in open canoes. We try to go to some of the interesting and challenging coastal locations. Of course, they were very skilled canoeists. |

Villa Paradise
The home is located in the SW portion of Cape Coral in what is known as the "Pelican Area", which consists of mostly new & newer homes. The exact street address is 4612 SW 3rd Ave. Cape Coral Fl., 33914
This particular home was just completely refurnished in December. All the furniture in the entire home is brand new & sparkling clean. 65" high definition TV with a surround sound home theatre system. There is a beautiful & functional outdoor kitchen and a poolside TV. The pool is free form and has its own built in heated spa with a spillover waterfall. The house is also quite large, 2400 sq ft under air. It really is a beautiful home
Along the Gulf's miles of shell-strewn sand, mangroves and offshore islands, brown pelicans perched sleepily on wooden pilings before plummeting like kamikaze dive-bombers in pursuit of shoals of fish. Beyond the sand islands, schools of dolphins lazily brake the surface without a care in the world. Down the middle of the Caloosahatchee runs what local boaters call the Miserable Mile - a "no-wake' channel where boats chug along at a mandatory walking pace to avoid injuring the manatees that live in the inshore shallows.
Once clear of the 30-minute crawl it takes only 15 minutes to zoom across San Carlos Bay to Point Ybel, on the southern tip of Sanibel Lighthouse, where a schools of dolphins frolic about, sleek grey fins cutting through the blue water right next to your boat.

In southwest Florida, we saw a lot of brown pelicans sitting on the water like ducks. Except that as we watched, they were actually even more like kernels of popcorn: periodically, one would fly up into the air 12 feet or so, then dive straight down for fish. In this clip, I managed to catch a single dive. |
