The History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Time :

This didn't turn out the way I had planned, as I had wanted to include a complete history throughout She-Ra and The New Adventures of He-Man, but ultimately it ended up being a lot longer than I thought. Still, it turned out better than I thought it would. The clips towards the end were meant to symbolise He-Man's first transformation and his first battle with Skeletor, but I don't know how well that came across.
Cartoons are evil part 4
Time :
5 : 0
Cartoons are evil...according to these guys at least. http://www.lukehadley.com DVLH This part focuses on the evil that is He-man toys. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an American animated television series produced by Filmation based on Mattel's successful toy line Masters of the Universe. It made its television debut in 1983 and ran until 1984, consisting of two seasons of 65 episodes each. Reruns continued to air in syndication until 1988, then moved to USA Network, where it aired from September 1989 to September 1990. The show, often referred to as simply He-Man, was one of the most popular animated children's shows of the 1980s and has retained a heavy following to this day. Skeletor is a fictional character in the Masters of the Universe franchise, where he is the arch-enemy and main antagonist of He-Man. Tagged "The Evil Lord of Destruction" he is the greatest threat to present day Eternia. He seeks to conquer Castle Grayskull so he can learn all of Eternia's ancient secrets, which would make him unstoppable, and enable him to conquer and rule all of Eternia. In the original minicomics, Skeletor is said to be an evil demon from the dimension of Infinita. In the later minicomics and Filmation series, Skeletor's origin is unknown, though a Mattel minicomic implies that he was once Keldor, the brother of King Randor. In the Mike Young Productions series, he is revealed to have once been a man named Keldor, though no familial connection to Randor is ever established. Snake Mountain is a location in the He-Man series, located on the fictional planet of Eternia. It is located on the Dark Hemisphere of Eternia and is home to the villainous, skull-faced Skeletor. It is later revealed to have once been home to the Snake Men. Its defining feature is its snake-like shape, hence the name. Many centuries ago, the Sword of the Ancients was thrust into a boulder of pure quartz, deep beneath Snake Mountain, and forgotten. According to the Sorceress, it is the most powerful weapon on Eternia , next to He-Man's Sword of Power. During the invasion of Hordak & the Evil Horde, Snake Mountain was used as a Horde base. Eventually the Evil Horde was defeated by the Eternians. Skeletor, at the time was a member of the Horde and a pupil of Hordak, betrayed Hordak, forcing the Horde leader to flee Eternia and abandon Snake Mountain. Skeletor would then take Snake Mountain and assemble a roster of evil warriors for his own evil purposes. Man-E-Faces is a fictional character in the Masters of the Universe franchise. He is a member of the Heroic Warriors, notable by his distinctive appearance, with his large, blue metal head on which his faces appear in its screen-like opening. His ability is to change his face from his regular human face to that of a robot and a monster. The purposes for which he uses his faces have varied throughout different media. Initially conceived as an actor cursed with a split personality, in the two cartoon series he uses his faces for the purpose of playing different roles as well as additional powers. She-Ra is a fictional character and the heroic female lead in the series of toys produced by Mattel called She-Ra: Princess of Power. She also appears in the tie-in cartoon of the same name, which was an attempt to make a version of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon series that would appeal to young girls in the same way that He-Man appealed to boys. She-Ra is also the twin sister of He-Man.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983) - intro theme
Time :
1 : 11
The intro to Filmation's long running Eighties animated TV series "He-Man and The Masters of The Universe," or just He-Man for short. Based on the toys by Mattel (who also provided the funding), He-Man ran for 130 episodes. It also had a spin-off series, in the form of "She-Ra: Princess of Power". A live-action film was produced by Cannon Film in 1987. Featuring an ever increasing army of characters, Filmation's usual level of animation and little to no competition at the time of its original airing. He-Man went on to achieve considerable success when it originally ran in 1983. The toyline from which it was based sold untold millions and caused many critics to cite it as nothing more than a half-hour toy commercial. When it reached the shores of the UK I absolutely adored the series, brought most of the toys and watched the cartoon to an almost religious extent. Today, I see it as an embarrassment to the art of animation and can't really watch an episode without cringing; walk cycles, animation repeats - He-man hits everything in the exact same way as he does in the intro - the best part of the art is the generally quite well done backgrounds. To be fair though, these problems where true of much of Filmations outpoint. If you watch Cringer when he is turned into Battlecat, he appears to be miming words. Apparently these words were "I have the power too!" or something to that effect; this was re-dubbed with the roaring sounds. The use of this introduction theme clip/subject is claimed under 'Fair Use' on the grounds of: 1) the clip/subject is used for - and accompanied with - comments on the show. Comments include such things as the producers of the show (as in the production company/s), the year it first aired and how long the series lasted in 'standard length' episodes. Also noted is the availability of subject on high quality, officially licensed media (e.g. DVD). 2a) Inferior quality of video in relation to the quality of the original source. Being at a much lower screen resolution at a high level of compression. In addition to the substantial generation loss caused as a result of the methods used, the process also causes compression artifacts in the form of: loss of image clarity, noise, pixelization, et al. 2b) The inferior nature coupled with the incomplete nature of this recording and the diminished potential value therein of this recording in relation to the original work. 3) The trivial nature of the potential value of subject's introductory theme (hereon referred to as 'intro'), less the actual show that would otherwise follow. On the basis that it is the show - rather than the show's intro - which is, in essence, the primary draw of any 'realistic' potential audience and therefore the main fiscal worth of the subject (relating to audience/market share and sales of merchandising, i.e. DVD and video). 4) Bar the occasional glimpse at an episode's title car, the clip is of the intro and nothing else. The length of the clip is determined by that of subject's intro original length, no more is taken. 5) The poster and host both receive no revenue from this clip's existence on this site.

Intro to the 80's cartoon He-Man. He-Man is a heroic fictional character in the toy series Masters of the Universe and the various spin-off products and media related to it. The most prominent is the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, produced by Filmation Studios. The syndicated series premiered in 1983 and ran until 1985, for a run of 130 episodes. In the series, He-Man and his friends defend Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor.

80's Cartoons Intro Overload! Part 2
Time :
9 : 54
Seeing as Part 1 got such a good response, and seeing as there were loads more cartoons to feature, here is another ten minutes of intros of popular cartoons from the 80's including He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats, Ninja Turtles, Bravestarr, Alvin and the Chipmunks and many more! The last time I made this video I could only get hold of the "censored" version of the Thundercats intro without Panthro's nunchuks and the "censored" Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles intro which is what we got in the UK as it was deemed that the word "Ninja" was a tad too harsh on our sensitive European ears. Now that I've had the opportunity to re-make the video I've now been able to include the uncut versions this time round. Enjoy!

Toy Commercials from the 80's!

This is the first new video since the relaunch of my YouTube channel, a selection of toy commericals from the 80's for such fantastic toy and cartoon franchises as Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Thundercats and Centurions! Ahh ... the memories! I particulary remember getting Castle Grayskull as I'd just come out of hospital at the time for having my tonsils removed. When I came home, there was He-Man's crib waiting for me! I remember wanting to go back into hospital thinking I'd get Snake Mountain too!
He-Man: Defender of Grayskull
Time :
7 : 11
'He-Man: Defender of Grayskull' was a game released to tie in with the new Masters of the Universe line. The game was not very well done, but has some fun sequences, particularly if your a He-Man fan. As you play through the game, you are shown FMV sequences where the voice actors from the new cartoon reprise their roles as the familiar characters. These sequences are the best thing about the game, creating a little mini episode as you play through. I have edited these sequences together into a small episode, the basic plot of the game is that Skeletor has created magical towers and used their power to enter Grayskull. He-Man must race to Grayskull quickly as the Sorceress weakens, encountering Tri-Klops and Beast Man along the way, and a mysterious Sphinx... Enjoy! :)

Part 2 can be watched here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIc-CFcLrdo Season 2 of The Big Daddy D Reviews starts with a new intro and a light-hearted look at the questionable content of the He-Man She-Ra Chrimbo Special, including possible incest and flying dildos. Special thanks to Busta Toons for the video clips and to Wrestlecrap and X-Entertainment for some of the screen grabs (and admittingly, a few of the gags!) I'm doing my reviews in a new way now, with voiceover against video clips and stills, I experimated with this during my Ratatouille Review and this time I'm doing it with a full review. This is instead of me just talking to the camera and then having a clip. Let me know which style you prefer. And be sure to check back to my channel soon for Part 2 as this is going to be an extra long review. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
