The 60s version of the heros. Mostly emulating the classic Curt Swan Superman of the times. Before all heros became angst-ridden jerks in need of therapists.
This era was set off not by the poor animation or the stories, but by the riveting orchestrated theme music throughout all the Filmation series, that you remember decades after the stories and images fade. I could constantly remember those music clips, all through my adulthood, until I finally found some of the episodes again, from Superman and Superboy, to the JLA, Green Lantern, Flash, the Atom, Hawkman, Aquaman and Teen Titans.

I've always been a comic book fan, but it was an uncle of mine that first got me interested in them. My uncle had a HUGE superhero comics collection. He told me many times that he first became a superhero fan thanks to the superhero cartoons of the sixties. Especially the Filmation DC cartoons, the early Marvel Superhero cartoons, and the superheroes of Hannah-Barbera.
In fact, this is my uncle's version of the JLA based on his boyhood days of cartoon watching. He said he always loved the old Superman cartoon which also featured Batman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Flash, Atom, and Hawkman. It also had segments featuring the Teen Titans, and more importantly, the Justice League. My uncle said he was especially fascinated by the concept of the JLA, all these solo heroes teaming up. He said he used to act out his own JLA adventures since there were only 3 JLA cartoons ever made. But(and this is where this video idea came about) my uncle's version not only had Superman, Hawkman, GL, Flash, & the Atom(the members in the cartoons), but he also added Aquaman(who was featured in the opening intros, but never in any adventures), and Batman, who was added in a later season in solo cartoons long after the JLA cartoon days. But my uncle didn't stop there, he also added the Marvel heroes, including Spidey, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America. He didn't add Subby because of already having Aquaman, and he said the Hulk just didn't "fit", plus none of the FF made it because they, as well as H-B's Herculoids and Galaxy Trio were already groups themselves. As for the rest of the H-B bunch, Birdman was too much like Hawkman, so he was a pass, and Mightor was from the past and also was way too much like Thor. That left Space Ghost, who might uncle said he never realized as a kid was actually from the future. He said he just thought his adventures took place in space, and to him didn't seem any more "futuristic" than any other superheroes, so Space Ghost also made the roster. My uncle said he didn't know about these characters being owned by different companies, so it made sense to him that they would all belong to the JLA.
Which brings us to this video, I made it in tribute to my uncle for making me a fan of comics and superheroes. And it all started in a little boy's imagination, and his version of the Justice League of America!! This is Part 1 of 2. |

I've noticed my previous 30 Min. videos are full of comments saying that there are not any good cartoons now. I totally disagree with that comment. I honestly think there's probably just as many (if not more) good cartoons now than the 80's (cause let me tell you, the 80's definitely had it's share of bad ones). So here's a video that consists of cartoon openings from the 2000's.
Now I can't say I like all the shows in this video, but I couldn't say that about the previous videos either. I will say that I do like aroung 90% of the shows in this video. So enjoy. |

What else can I can say than that. He tries to put out a fire, and seemly floods most of the US. That's a pretty big foul-up.
The best part is the fact Batman tells him not to worry about it at the end of this clip. I don't know about you guys, but if I was Batman I'd be telling Aquaman to give up his Justice League communicator, because he's about to be hitting the superhero unemployment line.
In short, Aquaman is an idiot. |

I loved this show. It is so much more than a cartoon, and think it has some of the best messages about being a hero. I had always heard this song and thought of a group of folks banning together to fight evil. I finally put it all together. I know some may not like that I put the Green Lantern oath over the part that was referencing Dr. Martin L. King, but felt the oath played more into what I was trying for than talking about Dr. King. "Actually, I was getting to that. I still wasn't able to get Ryu. It's hard to pinpoint where he is when he's constantly moving. Flare is in the city interrogating the captured superheroes. I'm afraid he won't be joining us for this. As for Kamui..."
"Is she all right? Asked Mai
"What? What happened to Kamui?" Asked Akiha as well
"Kamui had a little run in with Superdick. She managed to beat him but the godmoding bastard didn't went down easily. I called her earlier to check on her, accidently waking her up in the process. She probably went back to sleep. Now then...Hisui if you don't mind."
The Mech Hisui proceeded to become like a projector showing a large base.
"I know some of you wonder how come you've never seen that. It had some prettty good cloaking hiding it making it almost impossible to find. In fact, it appeared while we were still snoozing. If you ask me, we could probably get some answers of this whole insane Justice League thing from there. Any questions?"
Noone said anything
"Let's get going then"
The team headed onward to the base. before they reached it, 2 strange guards appeared and attacked the team. |
