A video I made for a speech I had to do. It starts out all nice and cute, but then really gets disturbing. Just to give a little warning, there are some graphic pictures. I know I show a lot of asians in my video, however, that doesn't mean all/most of them abuse animals. They do have some issues between the old traditions and the new, but look at 2:50 for example. I think it speaks for itself. Please be respectful of other people's heritages.

Even if it was his relatives(cousins or others)house like he said, he still would have know about it and still let it happened. They found 60 dogs buried in his backyard.
Sixty-six dogs, mostly pit bulls, were seized from a Surry County home last month when a narcotics raid turned up evidence of dog fighting. The home and gated property were owned by NFL star Michael Vick, a Newport News native, and occupied by his cousin, Davon Boddie.
Investigators said many of the dogs were injured or neglected. They are now being held and cared for at undisclosed locations across the area. At least three of them are at the Chesapeake Animal Control Bureau, nursing facial wounds and too timid to walk on a leash.
"These are dogs that have been bred and trained for the purpose of fighting and killing other dogs," said Goodwin, who is the society's deputy manager of animal fighting issues. "We recommend that any dog put through this not be adopted out but be euthanized. The blame for every one of these dog deaths lies squarely on the shoulders of the people who breed them for these illegal purposes |

H.R. 3219 AMENDS the Animal Welfare Act to make it unlawful to: (1) knowingly sponsor or exhibit an animal in, or knowingly attend, a dog fighting venture; and (2) knowingly sell, buy, possess, train, transport, deliver, or receive for purposes of transportation any dog or other animal for the purposes of having the dog, animal, or offspring of the dog or other animal participate in a dog fighting venture.

Dogfighting Law and the ammended bill.
The fighting dog's life is one of misery. Animals who survive a match often receive little care for their injuries and are barely provided with the food, water and shelter they need to survive. There is no rescue, for confiscated dogs are typically euthanized due to their unsuitability for adoption.
Most states have only misdemeanor-level penalties for attending dogfights, which do little to discourage animal fighters or encourage law enforcement to pursue cases. Fortunately, tougher federal legislation has now been introduced that would prohibit both dogfighting and being a spectator at a dogfight.
This is a NEW in our federal legislation on the floor of the United States Congress right NOW that would make it a Federal Felony Crime to buy, sell, transport, train or possess fighting dogs, or to participate as a spectator at a dog fight!

Check the current co-sponsors in the House (H.R. 3219 and H.R. 3327) and Senate (S. 1880) to see if your U.S. Representative and two U.S. Senators have signed on to support tougher dogfighting laws. We are aware of this story and have asked our contacts in Central America for more information. According to local animal welfare organizations, the dog was in a state of starvation when he was captured from the street for display in the exhibit. We have also been informed that the dog spent one day in the exhibit and later escaped the gallery. We do not condone the actions of this so-called "artist," and condemn the use of live animals in exhibits such as this. An animal welfare organization in Honduras, where the next art show will be held, is keeping close watch on the case and assures us that the artist will not repeat his objectionable exhibit.
Sadly, thousands of street dogs in Central America are in as poor shape as this one. HSI works throughout the world to prevent the circumstances that allow such a tragic event to take place. We encourage you to learn more about our street animal welfare programs.

An "Artist" by the name of Guillermo "Habacuc" Vargas Jimenez (habacuc being his stage name) was in the Bienarte 2007 (art exhibit) in Managua, Nicaragua. He himself is from Costa Rica. There he displayed a very sick and starving stray dog. Habacuc named the dog "Natividad", (which means birth). He tied Natividad up under a sign he made on the wall entitled "Eres Lo Que Lees", "You Are What You Read". The letters were made of kibbles. Hundreds of visitors to the art exhibit passed by, a few animal lovers asked for the dog to be released but Vargas refused. Natividad died. Vargas won first prize for his display of art, which he says was to illustrate the real problem of stray dogs and to "sensitize" the people to their deaths. He has now been asked to participate in the upcoming "Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008", "Bienarte 2008 in Central America Honduras" that will be held in November 2008. Though there is a HUGE online petition to ban said "artist" he is still listed as one of the participants.

I built the ball machine because I thought my dog Jerry, might like it and that it would be something fun for me to build. So after two years of on and off work, with many safety features such as IR proximity sensors to protect Jerry and my son from the machine, I finally complete.
Far from being a replacement for me, I was always right there with him enjoying his fun. And with all the troubles that I went through to build the ball machine, I still end up throwing more balls than that the machine could count! According to the computer, he played with the machine by himself only 3 times in his life.
I recently put this video on YouTube to keep alive my earlier memories of him and (hopefully) provide some "humorous distractions" for anyone that might drop by.

Through adoption, fostering, volunteering, donations (whether it be money or something you don't need anymore that the animals will benefit from), and even just educating people about responsible pet ownership and the pet overpopulation crisis, you can help these animals. The animal shelters are not the bad guys. They are just doing what they can. Not having animal shelters would not keep animals from dying-- it would just keep them from dying humanely. |

Dog chases moose... does he live? It started by filming a moose in our front yard, not an uncommon sight for Anchorage, Alaska. The neighbor's Jack Russell Terrier decided to take on the moose about midway through the video. Moose kill dogs and the occasional human here, so the situation got tense while the unruly dog harassed the increasingly irritated moose. Our Senegal Parrot can be heard screeching at the moose in the background (see my video "Parrot Dinner Time" for a humerous look at this guy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XHVafP0MeM ). |

Hi folks. Thank you for all your warm comments and here are some answers to your questions: I shot this video on VHS-C in my backyard, near Ward, Colorado (8,700' elevation) during a blizzard in the late 1990's; a local weatherman said it was the most measureable snow (if memory serves, it was 54" in 48 hours) from the least amount of moisture ever. The only secret is that Bailey was chasing snowballs I'd thrown (she never found any, but obviously didn't care!). Sadly, Bailey died FAR too young in a house fire on December 26, 1998 so this is all I have left but, truly, she was unique--she was also a self-taught skier, ice skater, and first-class snuggler. Anyway, I'm glad she is now bringing as much pleasure to you as she continues to bring to me. Cheers to dogs, and to all those that love them! Please be well and Happy Holidays!!! |

Anytime you see a video that pertains to awareness of abuse to animals please support them and give them a positive feedback as many groups have been flagging the videos down. I have had the suspicion for long time that these groups are organized either they are hired by Vick himself or they are extreme fans of the ConVICK.
These are the results of atrocities of life when you have no respect for the living. We are conditioning these young kids to be monsters when they reach adults. They will hunt humans one day.
Puppy set afire
Oakland boys accused of animal cruelty
In a crime that has outraged neighbors, police and dog owners, two Oakland boys were in custody yesterday for allegedly setting a 3-month-old pit- bull terrier on fire after forcing it to fight another dog.
The youths, ages 12 and 15, told police they threw flammable material on the stray dog Tuesday afternoon after it beat another pit bull puppy in a fight they staged outside an East Oakland apartment building, said police Sgt. Arturo Bautista.
One of the boys cares for the female puppy that lost the fight, and the attack may have been the boys' revenge, authorities said. A third boy, age 14, is also being sought in the case.
"This is a terrible event," said Glenn Howell, Oakland animal control director. "You have a juvenile, of all things, setting a puppy on fire. It's very cruel. People need to be aware that pit bulls as a breed are just totally misused."
The injured puppy suffered burns on one-fourth of its body, including on its face, back and legs, and was recuperating yesterday at the Veterinary Centers of America Bay Area Animal Hospital in North Oakland.
Veterinarians at the hospital have named the hapless, 19-pound puppy Theodore and have been giving it painkillers and antibiotics intravenously, feeding it high-calorie food and applying soothing aloe vera on its skin.
Groggy from morphine yesterday morning, the brown-and-white dog blinked slightly in its cage while wrapped in a Minnie Mouse towel. A yellow sign read,
"Feed only after giving morphine. He will vomit after morphine is given."
The case comes after last year's high-profile crimes in which vicious dogs were the aggressor: the fatal mauling of Diane Whipple, 33, a popular St. Mary's College lacrosse coach, at the door of her San Francisco apartment, and the pit bull mauling of 10-year-old Shawn Jones in Richmond.
"It's an unusual case," Bautista said of the three boys allegedly involved in setting the dog on fire. "It raises concern in everyone, not only police but anyone hearing about it, as to why this was going on."
The injured puppy is about six pounds underweight, slightly emaciated and already suffered from mange before its ordeal, said veterinarian Carl Singer.
"He's really pretty strong," Singer said. "He may not need surgery."
The puppy will probably stay at the animal hospital for three to seven days before it is transferred to the Oakland Animal Shelter on 29th Avenue in East Oakland. There, animal control officials will decide whether the puppy can be adopted.
After the puppy won the fight about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the boys sprayed him with some material from a canister, threw flammable material on the puppy and ignited it with a match, Bautista said.
The boys then chased the dog into a vent underneath an apartment building at 1436 71st Ave. in East Oakland, where part of the building also caught fire,
Bautista said.
Firefighters quickly doused the blaze. It was unclear whether the flaming dog set the building on fire or if the boys started the building fire.
Animal control officers took the other dog, which had some previous scars but was uninjured in the fight, to the Oakland Animal Shelter.
Two of the boys were taken into custody on suspicion of felony cruelty to animals and attempted arson. They were being held at Alameda County Juvenile Hall in San Leandro. Because of their ages, their names were withheld.
"That's messed up -- they should be punished," said Andreina Madriz, 13, who lives on the block where the incident took place. She said dog fights are common in the neighborhood.
Relatives of the 15-year-old boy said he had a soft spot for animals and couldn't fathom him doing what authorities allege.
"I know he's innocent," said the boy's grandmother, Anna L. Moore, 80, of Oakland. "He's never hurt any animal."
The boy's 21-year-old sister added: "I just don't believe it. I don't understand any of it."
Amber Niewold, 28, of Oakland, a co-founder of Bay Area Dog Lovers Responsible About Pit Bulls, or BAD RAP, said the abuse highlights how the breed has been unfairly stigmatized.
"I hope the media and the public are able to use this event to begin placing blame where it belongs, which is people, and to stop bashing breeds of dogs and making judgments about breeds when it is clearly people who are behind horrible things," Niewold said. |
