On September 18, 2002, thousands of Cuban-Americans descended on the nation's capital to lobby the government in favor of loosening the current restrictions on travel to Cuba. This short documentary demonstrates that Cuban-Americans are not a monolithic community in favor of a hard-line stance towards Cuba. The pictures where taken in Matanzas, Cuba in April 2007. Two of my friends work for a Cuban TV channel and they where going to be filming the opening of the Festival known as Festival Callejero de Teatro;so they invated my husband and I to go with them.
To be honest, I did'nt expect much of it...but...boy, was I ever wrong. Everything, from the story line to the costumes and the acting was beautiful and the light efects were amazing.
That is Cuba, a country with so litter and so much at the same time.
In Cuba and for the Cubans anything and everything is possible. A simple play in a park turned into a big, big event. People from everywere came and kept on going to all the other plays. The Festival happens once a Year and goes on for a week in different parts of the city. Hope you all like the pictures. ENJOY! |
