Electronic Arts will be showcasing a wide variety of its upcoming titles at this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, the company announced today. These will include a mix of new and established IP, and a bevy of new casual games titles.
Games on show at the Barker Hangar will include EA Sports popular franchises Madden NFL 08, NBA Live 08, NASCAR 08, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08.
Driving game Burnout Paradise will also be playable in the hangar. Other titles include SimCity Societies for the PC, Valve's Half-Life 2: The Orange Box, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, Crysis, and Hellgate: London. The new Simpsons game will also be demoed on three platforms, along with around 12 other titles including third person co-op shooter Army of Two, Boogie, MySims, The Sims 2 Castaway, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Need for Speed ProStreet, Skate, and Rock Band.
There will also be an as-yet-unnamed EA casual trivia game for the Wii, along with the introduction of several mainstream casual games for mobiles, handhelds, and the Nintendo Wii, including Bejeweled mobile, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix mobile, Madden NFL mobile, The Simpsons: Minutes to Meltdown mobile, and NBA Live 08 mobile.
The company recently rebranded itself into four separate studios, EA Games, EA Sports, a dedicated Sims label, and EA Casual Entertainment.
Kathy Vrabeck, former Activision Publishing president, was recently announced to be heading up the company's casual games division, and will be hosting today's press briefing, to discuss the company's new strategic direction. |

This was shot over the course of a night where we took turns singing various song the game had to offer. Glen got stuck on "Oops" and was instantly addicted (as you'll no doubt see).
After I almost killed myself from a Britney overdose, I stopped filming and Glen continued to sing the same song for the next HOUR AND A HALF!

THIS is the REAL challenge of Boogie!
See, the Wii game Boogie is very easy. Generally speaking all you have to do to dance is wave the Wiimote to the beat. Heck! If you wanted to you could succeed just by rapidly shaking the thing at the TV like a complete spaz!
Thing is, if you did that your character would stutter and spaz around too. Heck! Even doing the dancing RIGHT your character will often repeat the same dance step over and over again in a stuttery and choppy way.
This, I believe, will make MANY people think that the dancing in Boogie is really bad.
HOWEVER, this is not the case. With a bit of experimentation, alot of control, and some luck, I have been able to (on rare occasions) bust out some very impressive feats of dancing!
There is more to Boogie's dancing system than meets the eye. Different strengths of Wiimote swings in different directions result in different dance moves. Rythmically pulling off a good variety of moves with perfect timing CAN result in some good dancing as seen here.
THIS is the REAL challenge of Boogie! Creating a music video with good dancing!
Now, I've only had the game for a day at this point. I'm still quite new. I simply wanted to post a video in resonse to the inevitable claims that the dancing in Boogie sucks.
This video has two breif clips. The first one was from the end of a Kareoke session wherin my random Wiimote wiggling resulted in afew seconds of excellent dancing.
The second clip is from a later attempt to replicate the event in Dancing mode as PROOF that this IS possible (as, if you let the Wiimote sit in Kareoke mode it will auto-dance).
So there, NOW there's a CHALLENGE to Boogie! |

Just a little video of me goofing off in Boogie. Friends wanted me to sing "My Milkshakes" and I then used the game's built in video editor to make this.
Needless to say I:
#1) Couldn't keep a straight face.
#2) Don't know the lyrics to the song.
#3) Brought all the boys to the yard.
Yeah, half way through my preformance one of my friend's cats flopped down in front of my feet. This cat usually hates men but apparently he couldn't resist my milkshakes XD
Needless to say we all cracked up about then.
Anyway this is just a breif clip I'm posting for the sake of my LJ. It's a good example of what the POINT of Boogie is. As a rythm game it's too easy, but as a "goof of with friends and make ridiculous music videos" game it's awesome. It would also be great for kids (HEY! With the industry's obsession with mature games, we need more of these than just Spongebob crap!).
Just so you know there's also a just dancing mode if you don't want to sing :P
As for the dancing? Yeah it's bad. You try waving a Wiimote while singing into a mic! (ends up though, if you put the Wiimote down the character will auto dance) Pulling off dances that actually look good is tricky but it IS possible! Here's a video of afew breif moments of good dancing:

Aparecido primero para Wii, Eelectronic Arts edita también para PS2 su party game Boggie, el cuál mezcla el bailar y cantar en una experiencia combinada.
Gracias a su look simpático con personajes originales cercanos al dibujo animado y colores muy vivos en los entornos, es perfecto para jugadores de todas las edades.
Los momentos en los que debemos cantar se realizan con una mecánica muy similar a SingStar, obteniendo mayor puntuación cuanto mejor cantamos y llenamos las burbujas de color. Gracias al micrófono que se incluye en la versión para Wii, en ambas versiones la mecánica es la misma.
Cuando toca bailar, en Wii utilizaremos su sensor de movimiento para que el personaje escogido baile al compás de la música realizando tanto los pasos básicos, los combos, los movimientos y demás de manera casi intuitiva, aunque en Wii debería haberse pulido un poco más el control pues a veces no resulta todo lo efectivo que debería.
En PS2 el movimiento del personaje se realiza moviendo los 2 sticks, así como cambiamos el estilo de baile, muecas y demás con los 4 botones. Al presionar los botones traseros activaremos un pequeño minijuego donde deberemos realizar la cadena de movimientos requeridos.
Pruebas individuales o combinadas, un buen listado de canciones y variados personajes, cada uno con su estilo de baile, ofrecen un original party game que nos ha gustado más en la versión para PS2.
Para los que quieran presumir o recordar sus méritos, el editor de vídeos nos permite montar nuestros propios vídeos con elementos personalizados. |

So, the main comment I got from a lot of you is that I did not show you game play footage in my review of Boogie. Well, now that I'm able to capture video from the television you now are able to see it. And for those of you who have not seen the review yet, I go into more detail about this game. So check that out if you have not done so all ready.
Note: I do spare you my horrid singing, and the awful story mode. Also YouTube asks to keep all videos to under ten min. so I had to cut the end of the video editor. But you're able to get the idea from what I show you.
