"Bionic," which is now the fall's top new premiere and NBC's best Wednesday series premiere since "The West Wing" in 1999, built from its first half hour to its second among 18-49s, while "Practice" was flat.
"Bionic" is a remake of the 1970s show about a woman who becomes part machine thanks to a life-saving procedure that gives her superhuman strength. NBC pumped the show with a heavy marketing campaign designed to appeal to the same viewers who made "Heroes" into a hit.
Indeed, that show is strong with the younger male demos, and "Woman" won its timeslot in men 18-34 and 18-49 last night, while "Practice" was No. 1 in adults 18-34 and the major female demographics. "Practice" also topped "Bionic" by 600,000 in total viewers, drawing 14.2 million.
Yet perhaps as surprising as "Bionic's" performance was NBC's "Life," which won its timeslot at 10 p.m. leading out of "Bionic" despite being dismissed by media buyers and many critics.
NBC took the lead at 9 p.m. with its 5.5 for "Bionic," with ABC second with a 5.1 for "Practice." CBS was third with a 3.5 for "Criminal Minds," Fox fourth with a 2.4 for "Kitchen Nightmares," Univision fifth with a 2.2 for "Destilando Amor" and CW sixth with a 1.2 for "Gossip Girl."
Bionic Woman is about, well, a bionic woman. Jamie Sommers was in a car crash, and her scientist boyfriend/soon-to-be baby daddy decides that, since the choice is to either let her die or make her half-woman half-machine, to make her all bionic and what not. Oh, and there's an evil first bionic woman out there running amok. This, my friends, is the clunky part. The show, well, it kind of blows up until Jamie actually starts BEING the bionic woman. Once she starts using her new technology, the show picks up dramatically and actually becomes really entertaining, including one hell of a catfight. |

"Doomsday Is Tomorrow," is perhaps the finest episode of the original Bionic Woman series; a two-parter that pits its title character against a super computer -- with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Paying homage to the classic "2001: A Space Odyssey" and the often overlooked, "Colossus: The Forbin Project," "Doomsday" mixes super science with dramatic themes, many of which remain relevant today.
But for all its ambitious inspiration, "Doomsday" is still a small screen production with a small screen budget. It would take a lofty directorial vision, stellar guest cast, and the reliable magic of regular cast and crew to make this two-parter seem bigger than what its screen dimensions could offer. And they succeeded. "Doomsday Is Tomorrow" is powerful and poignant and its message is timeless.
I have always believed it worthy of the big screen. So here is my tribute to "Doomsday Is Tomorrow" -- a contemporary theatrical trailer. But can such a thing truly be done with a 30 year old piece of television? You decide. Based on this trailer, would YOU go to see this in the cinema?

I've tried to create a lovestory between Jaime and Sarah: they meet and fall for each other, but Sarah cheats with Jay. Jaime knows and is heartbroken, but won't take Sarah back even though she loves her.
This is what should've happened in Bionic Woman (imho), these two were perfect together. Too bad they didn't give Katee Sackhoff more airtime, she made the show worth watching! |

I think this is prolly the first fanvid for the upcoming Bionic Woman remake. This looks like a fantastic show, streets ahead of the original and Michelle Ryan has really grown beyond her soap opera roots. She rocks in this role.
I only had 4 minutes 49 seconds of low res crappy flash video to work with but given the circumstances I think this is a pretty good job. There's some artification but nothing major and not too distracting, if I can clean up the source video (or heaven forfend get hold of more footage) then I'll upload an improved version.
The music tracks might seem odd at first but I think there's a good fit here. Linkin' Park and Genesis provide the audio. |

New improved Bionic Woman music video. It's got much tighter editing, no clip repetition and I cleaned up the original footage (a lot) so there'll be less artifacts, though I don't know if you'll be able to see the improved picture quality after Youtube's downgraded it to FLV :(
Music remains the same, Abacab's lyrics worked so well for this I didn't wanna change it and Linkin Park's instrumentals gave it a tragi-heroic feel but with a snappier pace.
It's a full minute shorter than the original, I like this version better. |

Jaime also finds it sadly ironic that Will told her he couldn't bear to lose her, but it ended up the other way around.

The Bionic Woman aired on the 0-10 Network in Australia from 1976 until 1979. But the show also did well in re-runs.
This promo was recorded off air from Channel 10 in Sydney in 1981.
Ironically, if not a little clumsy, the promo makers used the signature theme from the "Six Million Dollar Man" instead of the "Bionic Woman" in the promo.
NBC is recreating the "Bionic Woman" in 2007 and it will premiere in the USA in September.

I only managed to watch his Bionic Woman episode last night. I didnt find the show entirely brilliant, but I did find Callum in full swing again as a 'baddie' and he did it so well. I forgot to add the scenes of his demise, which include a very cool flip. Next video it is.
It called for a tribute video, and since these two shows were all I had of him, they got chosen. The song is by Korn and is called 'Freak On A Leash'. A couple mistakes but nothing drastic, or so I hope!
