A '43 Willys MB rescued by a '52 Willys M-38 on a volcanic riverbed in Sapangbato, Angeles City, Philippines in 1996. This is the route and a battle ground used by the US Army 37th Division against the Japanese Army in WWII. A lot of Japanese tunnels are in this area and the surrounding hills of Clarkfield. All vehicles in the video were restored by Garison Motorpool in Angeles City, Philippines. Garison Motorpool now restores several mv's including a recently finished 6X6 Willys MB. Services includes body tub, frame repair, complete MV restoration, production and rebuilding of military vehicle parts, accesories (ex. tow bar, top bows, etc.) and sold overseas. Also offering MV off road tours as seen on video clip around Angeles City, Clarkfield, Mt. Pinatubo areas and other WWII historical spots. Experience the Philippines on military vehicles! In 1996, Keith Atkinson was asked by his Dutch friend, Perry, to put together a knock-out Willys Sedan, pro-street style, with a blown 454 for motivation. Perry had bought the car from Andy Saunders and taken it home as a complete street rod, but then felt it was in need of a total makeover, so back it came to Keith's garage for remedial therapy. This was at the height of Keith's street rodding notoriety and was another project he responded to with his usual professionalism. It featured a Tony Jarvis, race-influenced chassis that was tubbed and fitted with custom black leather upholstery. Adding to the extrovert appearance of the Willys, there was a 6/71 GMC blower sticking through the hood, a wicked stance and a purple paint scheme. The usual suspects -- Dave Sturgess, Tracy Chantry and Gary Kybert -- were all employed to help complete the car over an 18-month period. It was later flamed by Chris Froggett and appeared on the show scene in the UK, where it won Best of Show at the NSRA Supernationals at Knebworth first time out. |

Voor Zigeuners is muziek maken synoniem met het creeeren van iets nieuws. Het was in Toulon in 1931 dat de jonge Django Reinhardt voor het eerst kennismaakte met de muziek van Duke Ellington en Louis Armstrong. Spoedig daarna werd deze reizende cafémuzikant die gewend was eigentijdse populaire muziek te vertolken een van de grootste muzikale genieen van deze tijd. Toen de swing het gedurende de Tweede Wereldoorlog overnam van de musette nam de gitaar de plaats in van de zes-snarige banjo. Onder invloed van Django Reinhardt maakte een hele generatie zigeunermuzikanten zich de stijl van de swing eigen.
Erfgenamen van de Hot Club de France zijn nu te vinden in Frankrijk, Nederland, Noorwegen en Duitsland waar ze de musette afwisselen met swing.Muziek is al eeuwen lang de taal van Sinti. Hun muziek gaat over van vader op zoon. Zo ook bij het Lagrené Ensemble. Willy Lagrené (accordeon, gitaar en zang) richt zijn ensemble op in 1988 met zijn drie zonen: Amo Lagrené (piano), Mertzo Lagrené (gitaar) en Mogli Lagrené (contrabas). Ze spelen vooral op evenementen, openingen en feesten in Nederland en België. In april van 2002 presenteert het Lagrené Ensemble hun debuut cd op het podium van Cultureel Centrum de Effenaar in Eindhoven.
In het voorjaar van 2003 komt Willy's broer Albert de groep versterken op drums en percussie. Tegenwoordig speelt het ensemble op internationale podia van festivals en congressen maar ook op de kleinere podia laat deze unieke muzikale familie een geweldige indruk achter.
De muziek van het Lagrené Ensemble is doortrokken van internationale invloeden. Verwant aan de legendarische Birelli Lagrené, die al sinds jaar en dag een vertolker is van de gipsyjazz in de stijl van Django Reinhardt, voegt Het Lagrené Ensemble een vleugje tango toe aan de onvervalste zigeunerjazz. Zo heeft het ensemble een prachtige bewerking van het wereldberoemde 'Noniño' van Astor Piazolla op haar naam staan.
'Romani Jaak' is de eerste eigen compositie die het Lagrené Ensemble op de verzamel-cd 'Weile Meer Sinti Ham' vertolkt. Zelf gecomponeerd, gepassioneerd en melancholisch werk siert hun debuut-cd 'Take me'. Verrassende eigen composities tonen de veelzijdigheid en muzikale kwaliteiten van Het Lagrené Ensemble.
Natuurlijk ontbreken Sinti-klassiekers als 'Chawo' en 'U Letzko Curko', gezongen in de eigen taal (het Sinti-Romanes) niet!
In mei 2003 speelde de band op het fameuze Khamoro World Roma Festival van Praag i.h.k.v. de Europese toetreding van Tsjechië. In jazzclub Lucerna, tijdens de presentatie van de festival-cd, speelde ze in aanwezigheid van de presidents vrouw van Tsjechië en ook gaven ze een concert in de beroemde jazzclub Reduta waar Bill Clinton en Havel ooit nog hun muzikale kunsten vertoonden.
Het Lagrené Ensemble wordt gevormd door:

Zoals de tango door het leven gaat, zo drukken de Lagren? hun vreugde, verdriet, verlies, liefde teleurstelling en kracht in hun muziek uit.
Het succes van hun CD ?Take me? zal in Landgraaf niet onopgemerkt blijven, menige brok in de keel zal getuigen van het vuur in hun spel waardoor iedereen vroeg of laat gegrepen zal worden?

And who is more overlooked than Willy the Snitch? Surprise me, he only appeared in five episodes.
