There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- http://www.ceepackaging.com - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!
In 1997 I founded Polish Business News http://www.pbn.com.pl .There are a number of business related films here and I intend to do many more on CRM (customer relations management).

The Installation
Menashe Kadishman's contribution to the Jewish Museum Berlin is the installation titled Shalechet (Fallen Leaves) in the Memory Void, one of the empty spaces of the Libeskind Building. Over 10,000 open-mouthed faces coarsely cut from heavy, circular iron plates cover the floor.
Kadishman's installation, on loan from Dieter and Si Rosenkranz, powerfully compliments the spatial feel of the Voids. While these serve as an architectural expression of the irretrievable loss of the Jews murdered in Europe, Menashe Kadishman's sculptures filling them evoke painful recollections of the innocent victims of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Born in 1932, Menashe Kadishman studied sculpture in Israel from 1947 to 1950. He continued his education in Great Britain at the St. Martin's School of Art and the Slade School of Art in London (1959-1960). Today the artist lives and works in his native town of Tel Aviv.
Menashe Kadishman has been awarded several prizes since the 1960s, among them first prize for sculpture at the Fifth Paris Biennial Art Festival (1967), the Sandberg Prize from the Israel Museum Jerusalem (1978), and the Mendel Pundik Foundation Prize for Israeli Art (1984). He represented Israel at the Venetian Biennial Art Festival in 1978. In the years since 1965, Kadishman's art has been shown in numerous single and group exhibitions in Israel and far beyond, and has won international acclaim. |

This is a short video of an exhibit at the Jewish Museum in Berlin. The architect of the museum designed several "voids" within. The effects of these were varied, but this was certainly the most vivid.
Wedged between concrete walls several stories tall (basically an open-air notch within the museum) stands this void. The entire floor of this space is covered with thousands of thick, metal faces - no two of which are the same. The metallic clanging of these faces as you walk across them echos throughout the void. |

Walk among the 49 giant concrete stellae in the Berlin Jewish Museum's Garden of Exile. The ground is tilted ever so slightly to deceive our sense of equilibrium. No straight perpendiculars here, all angles are intentionally acute or obtuse, inducing a vertiginous disorientation.

The Old Jewish Quarter in Prag
the oldestJewish community in the western world.While seeking to exterminate the Jews the nazis set out to develope the existing jewish museum,then very small,into an "Exotic Museum of an extinct race".
Little has remaind of the Jewish quarter of Prag:a town hall,six synagogues and a part of the Old cemetery.
After 1950 a memorial of 77297 was erected listing the names of all Jews of Prag who was killed.Their name are on several wall-mounted tablets in the synagogue.
The old cemetery was established in the first half of 15th c.One of the oldest tomb is the Rabbi Low's[conected with the Golem legend]
