Thought it was about time that there was a video on here that shows the best of Plymouth for a change. When the sun shines, it's actually not a bad place to live. Yes it may be 10 years behind most other places... but, that's part of its charm !
Located in Devon in the South West of England, Plymouth is busting with history. Home of the largest Navy base in Europe. The strating point of the Pilgrim Fathers famous voyage on to discover the new lands of America. Home of Sir Francis Drake, Captain Robert Falcon Scott and Sir Walter Raleigh to name but a few.
With Plmouth Sound and the sea beyond to the south, Dartmoor to the North. With the beaches and amazing countyside of Devon and Cornwall only a stones throw away, Plymouth is a great place to be in, on or near the water in the great outdoors.

We were actually tipped off by a member of the public who called our hotline number.

This is video footage from 1957 that shows Tulsans burying a Plymouth Belvedere outside of the county courthouse on 6th and Denver. This car is going to be unearthed on June 15th, 2007 as part of the Oklahoma Centennial celebration.

It was a fabulous day today. We met up 100m away from where the stress test cart was positioned, and prepared for our noisy entry. I was touring the area with the loudhaler, and by the time the last protester arrived at the stress-test cart, they started to pack up.
We followed them back until they stopped and called the police. The police told them off for yet another call-out for a 'non-crime'. Any more such call-outs, and they will be liable to being charged for wasting police time.
All in all, it was a very quick win, and we celebrated with ice-creams, watching the 'tomb-stoners' from the Hoe.

Tulsa Story :This is a video pictorial of the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was buried in
Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 15, 1957 as a time capsule. It was uncovered 50
years later on June 15, 2007.
I was hoping to see a pristine version of "Miss Belvedere", but as it turned
out, the vault leaked and filled with water, causing much damage to the
automobile. As a car enthusiast, I watched the story develop over the past
few years. I waited and watched it live online as she was extracted from
the ground. When I saw the rust-colored dirt and muck on her, I had a bad
feeling about her condition.
I wish the person who won this car (by guessing the closest to the town's
actual 2007 population back in 1957) could have it restored, but that would
be a massive undertaking. On the other hand, she should get a chance to
dance again!
I hope you enjoy the video, along with some before, during, and after
photos.

Miss Belvedere Moves On
By Old Cars Weekly
After spending nearly 50 years quietly rusting beneath the Tulsa County Courthouse lawn, the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere affectionately known as "Miss Belvedere," is on the road once again.
Don't get too excited, when she rolled out of Tulsa earlier today, it wasn't under her own power—she was whisked out of town in the back of a truck.
After months of legal wrangling to establish ownership of what is clearly the most famous "finned" Mopar in the world (yes, even more famous than Stephen King's "infamous" Christine), Miss Belvedere has begun her journey to New Jersey — and possibly a rust-free future.
Levada Humbertson Carney and Catherine Humbertson Johnson, elderly sisters from Maryland, will officially take possession of the Belvedere as beneficiaries of their brother Raymond Humbertson who won the car as part of a contest held back in 1957.
Buried with the car was a time capsule containing people's guesses as to what the population of Tulsa would be in 2007. Included among the hundreds of guesses, was one made by Raymond Humbertson of Cumberland, Md., who died in 1979. His guess was only 2,286 off the actual census numbers, closer than any other entry.
Assisting the cars elderly owners will be Levada Carney's son Robert Carney and Dwight Foster, President of the UltraOne Corporation.
As you will recall, as part of this ongoing saga, New Jersey-based UltraOne, manufacturer of a line of rust removal products, will now begin the pain-staking process of de-rusting and preserving what remains of the rusty relic.
According to Robert Carney, the car, which suffers from extensive damage after being submerged in conditions described as a "watery grave" for an unknown number of years, may eventually be able to take to the road under her own power.
Once Miss Belvedere arrives in New Jersey she will undergo a lengthy cleansing and rust removal process that her new owners and the folks at UltraOne hope will stabilize the car before sealing it with a clear-coat designed to halt the rusting process.
"We will not be restoring the car but preserving her for the future," Mr. Foster told the Tulsa World. "We have to stop the rust, because if nothing is done, this car will be dust in two years."
According to the UltraOne Web site, future plans for Miss Belvedere could include a second Tulsa unveiling and a tour around the country for special events. Following the tour, the car's future remains unclear.
However, it has speculated that the car could find her way to the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Scottsdale in the coming years.

The 11th British Fireworks Championships was held in Plymouth on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 August 2007.
This Video was taken on the second night of the fifth team to display - 1st Galaxy Fireworks of Nottingham.
It is Britain's largest live showcase of the fireworks industry. Six professional companies competed in the event - all determined to win the title British Fireworks Champions 2007.
Held every year in Plymouth, the event was expanded with the launch of the Welsh National Firework Championships and the Scottish National Championships both of which formed heats for the British Firework Championships in Plymouth.
Each competitor staged a 10-minute display. The fireworks were fired from Mount Batten Breakwater with 3 spectacular displays each night (9.30pm, 9.50pm and 10.10pm). |

Hello, this is a video for a another car brought to you by car of your dreams. This car was featured in the January 1991, which was only the 2nd issue of Mopar Collector Guide magazine, which is a national magazine that is still in publication today. This is a 1970 Plymouth GTX wagon clone, now before anyone says that there was never any GTX's wagon made you are right. This is a cloned wagon into a GTX to bad they didn't make wagons like this back in the day. This car was restored back in 1990. This was always a very solid car and still retains from what I can tell all of it's original sheetmetal. Now first all the markings and emblems that had to do with a wagon taken off. The side decals were added as well as the side scoops, that were welded into the rear doors on each side, as the GTX had them in there rear quaters. Side emblems were added, a power bulge hood was added with the paint treatment, hood pins, GTX grill was added, GTX front bucket seats were added and the back seat got special made upholstry to match, all the 4 door panels got the GTX door panels that matched the seats, GTX dual exhaust was added. Finally a 1970 440 motor was added as well as a big block auto tranny and a Dana 60 posi 4:11 rear end. It is a shame but after the onwer of this car that restored it sold it, not to long ago, the last owner had removed the 1970 440 motor and te dana 60 posi rear and replased them with another 440 and a 8 3/4 limited slip rear end. This was done I quess because they are worth some good money. The car still retains it's original color of dark burnt orange code FK5 and also still has it's original color black and white color interior. Now to the car today it is in very good condtion, the interior in near perfect all the way around, everything works on the car as it should. The tailgate had 2 panels replaced to make it solid again and some parts were replaced in the interior to make it 100% again. The car starts right up on the first try and the motor sounds great. It has a slight rumble as to say it has a aftermarket cam in it. The trans was rebuilt as well. There are brand new BF goodrich t/A tires, which has the raised white letters turned inside to give it a sleeper look. This car is alot of fun to have and to drive. It always draws a crowd everywhere it goes, because of it's unique look. How many 1970 wagons do you see that look like this and have a big block under the hood. Thunderbolt 1000 siren filmed during the monthly Test in Plymouth, MI. Saturday August 1st at 1300. This monster of a siren is at the abandoned fire and police station complex off Ann Arbor Road (Formerly US-12 and M-14). The City also has a few 1000T dual tones. This one sounds like it needs some help. I hope that someone can see this video and report the condition of this siren to the proper authority. I had originally Hoped to catch the 1000T. Enjoy! |
