Found this is a 3/4 tape that was mislabeled....I' glad it surfaced because this guy is rarely seen but often heard. Rush Limbaugh is one of the most influential broadcasters of the last 25 years if not longer. A lightning rod for the liberals and controversial doesn't even big to describe him. Too hot handle for some after 20 years of talk on a national level. He is a broadcast legend with his golden EIB microphone....a little PT barnum and walter winchell mixed with Ronald Reagan....He has no shortage of opinions and no shortage of people who love and hate him. Famous Achy Breaky Heart Line Dance segment I edited for Idol in Fantasia's year. Check it out, Fantasia is the last one standing @ end of this segment in top ten part of season.
On the day before the final voting, I came out into the parking lot at CBS and saw Ms. Barrino (Fantasia's mom) coming towards me lookin so worried.
I had just finshed Fantasia's final piece and just gone through all the footage of Fantasia visiting her church and everything.
You could tell this was one blessed girl. I wanted to tell her mom something positive, but instead had to keep my eyes on my car as I passed her.
We can not influence the contenstant in any way to the best of our ability. Who knows anyways... her mom probably needed to worry about her daughter. This was it... and only 2 days left.
I like that about TV... some of these behind the scenes moments -- we all have them in the industry. I wish we could all share them in a good way... maybe someone can build a blog. anyways...
Ken Warwick had come into the bay and the only change he made was adding the narration. He was right, and I learned how shrewd he and Nigel were as STORYTELLERS. They are PT Barnum and highly successful for the same reason as any great showmen in history.
I am proud to have worked with them, frankly and my best wishes for them.

This fantastic and little-known Hollywood story reveals William Castle—largely remembered for installing electrical shocking devices in seats for added scares at his horror films—as a fascinating, multi-dimensional man.
A master of ballyhoo and a brand name in movie horror, Castle in the 50s and 60s treated delighted moviegoers to buzzing seats, flying skeletons, luminescent ghosts and life insurance policies. But his career began as assistant to director Orson Welles, where he did much of the second unit location work for THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI. Driven by a fear of failure and longing for respect from his peers, Castle's life was a rags-to-riches tale of a larger-than-life showman who reinvented himself as a modern P.T. Barnum. And his influential role in producing and nearly directing one of the most revered horror films of all times, ROSEMARY'S BABY alone is worth the price of admission.
Director Jeffrey Schwarz tells the tale, lining up interviews with Joe Dante, Leonard Maltin, Stuart Gordon, John Landis, and the provocative John Waters. |

British TV comedian Rich Fulcher interviews British TV comedian Matt Berry about his career in music and TV. Here's a little bit more about the writers/musicians/actors:
Rich Fulcher is the great great, great grandson of Jethro Fulcher, famous gambler and sports instructor for the Royal Court of King George. In 1776, Fulcher was banished from England for failing to pay his cribbage debts and headed for America to spread badminton throughout the New World. Fulcher died three years later when he was shot in a duel after exposing himself to General Lafayette's nephew.
In 1804, Jethro's son, a tracker named Bruno, was instrumental in aiding Lewis and Clark during their historic expedition by making love to a terrifying bear who raided the camp. Lewis and Clark escaped but Bruno was presumed dead, until a hairy offspring named Garson appeared in the vicinity twenty years later, claiming to be Bruno's son.
Garson Fulcher became known by locals as Grizzly the Bear-Faced Human, and years later was discovered by P.T. Barnum, who toured Garson around the world to astounded audiences everywhere. He was later put to sleep after eating Tom Thumb. Garson was survived by his wife, Beardy Bernice and son Clayton Fulcher, who served as a Major in the Confederate Army under General "Big Balls" Johnston.
After the Civil War, Major Fulcher eeked out a living in New Orleans as a curator for the Big Balls Wax Museum and Fish Emporium. He sired six children through various prostitutes within the Gulf of Mexico. The sixth child, Francis, became the shining paragon of the Fulcher clan, by graduating summa cum laude from the Tulane Medical School and becoming a medical doctor specializing in rare venereal diseases.
In 1921, whilst lecturing in London on "Your Father is not Insane, He Just has Syphilis", Dr. Francis frequented the Ten Bells pub in London's east end, where he encountered a ruffian named Ken Wormwood. Wormwood, hallucinating from absinthe, killed the doctor over an argument about wooden tablets.
Left fatherless, Francis's son Wilbur became a petty criminal and joined the Army Air Corps in World War II, but was court-martialed six months later when he used one of the B-47s as a flying brothel. He spent his remaining years in Georgia,, where he fathered 112 children well into his nineties. He cast most of his family in the '70s film Deliverance.
Richard (aka Rich), the 85th child, grew up under the belief that most of his brothers and sisters were family friends. He became emotionally distraught when he found out that many of his former girlfriends were actually his sisters and left Georgia for Washington, D.C.
Trying to erase his sordid past, Rich joined the Secret Service but was soon banished from the organization after introducing Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky and actually told her that "I won't watch if you want to give him a B.J." Destitute and homeless, Rich was ushered out of the country during the impeachment hearings, and secreted to London.
Whilst drinking in the Ten Bells pub in Spitalfields, Rich naively began talking to a local prostitute named "Rohipnol Rita". Matt Berry noticed the American being taken advantage of and intervened just as the prostitute was about to take his trousers. The two became compatriots and the rest as they say, is...
Matt became the official hangman at aged fourteen when his uncle died. He was educated at Eton (not a problem as hangmen only do a job about once a month - "No-one knew").
He had quite a cosmopolitan adolescence where one week he would be flown to Tasmania to hang a spy, the next week Bermuda to do the same, and then be back at school as if nothing had happened. Little is known about his parents: only that his Father had declined the family business and possibly joined the R.A.F. His mother worked as a prostitute on Brick Lane.
Matt spent most of his formative years residing at the club of his great, great uncle Sir Charles Berry. One morning a couple of years ago, after hanging a pair of twins for arson, Matt walked into a favourite pub of his, the Ten Bells in London's East End.
He noticed an American tourist being subtly robbed by a known local prostitute. Matt asked the yank if he had the time, knowing that the man would look toward his watch, realise it was missing and thus scupper the prossies plan.
An ugly scene followed with lots of language and spitting, but Matt got him out of the pub and it was at that point that the American introduced himself as Mr Rich Fulcher. He then asked Matt if he knew of a place to lodge nearby and of any possible work appointments. The man was in luck. Sort of. |

Like most successful tycoons, Cyril Sneer hits the wall periodically. Thus, he gets the peculiar idea to give away a bike by putting missing pieces to a puzzle in bags of his disgusting potato chips. Bert begins to become hooked. Just like P.T. Barnum said, "a sucker's born every minute." While this applies to anti-Mormon promulgators primarily, it also works here. This is a Chautauqua 2006 portrayal of Henry Ford by actor Doug Mishler
Henry Ford's (1863-1947) revolutionary five-dollar, eight-hour day for workers, inexpensive automobiles, moving assembly line, and amazing command of technology made him one of the 1920s most popular and important figures. His public persona, however, became tainted by repeated occurrences of corruption, brutality, and anti-Semitism. A crusader for prohibition and for the abolition of smoking and jazz, Ford fought against what he saw as "moral decline" in the nation. Although a genius of the modern world, Ford can also be described as one of the last reactionaries trying to hold that world back.
Doug Mishler holds a Ph.D. in American culture from the University of Nevada, Reno, and has taught at the University of Nevada and Western Washington University. As a public historian, he has written a history of the Ringling Brothers Circus and has consulted on several public television and Chautauqua programs. In addition to Henry Ford, Mishler has performed as P.T. Barnum, Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Carnegie, William Lloyd Garrison, Ernie Pyle, William Clark, and Billy Sunday.
Chautauqua (shuh-taw-kwa) takes its name from a lake in upstate New York, beginning in 1874 as a training course for Sunday School teachers. In 1878 the Chautauqua movement expanded its philosophy of adult education to include an appreciation for the arts and humanities. By 1904, Chautauqua took to the road as part of the Lyceum movement, bringing lectures and entertainers to towns across America. By 1930, radio, movies, and automobiles had made Chautauqua largely a thing of the past.
Reborn as a public humanities program in 1976, today's Chautauquas feature scholars who take on the persona of celebrated historical figures, educating and entertaining audiences as they bring the past to life again.

The Circus in Southeast and Brewster
The circus had a large impact on the Town of Southeast as it provided employment for many local businesses, blacksmiths, feed and grain stores, wagon makers and painters. Many showman and circus people came from Southeast. Nathan and Seth B. Howes began their show business careers at early ages, in Southeast.

This video is an excerpt from the Chautauqua 2000 portrayal of William Lloyd Garrison by actor Doug Mishler.
• Doug Mishler holds a Ph.D. in American culture from the University of Nevada, Reno, and has taught at the University of Nevada and Western Washington University.
If you would like to see the entire portrayal, contact the Maryland Humanities Council. |
