Previsouly I uploaded a video running TomTom on a Nokia 6680 side-by-side with TomTom running on a Nokia N95.

The conclusion was that TomTom on the N95 was awful.
Last night I discovered that if I remove all the POIs from the N95 map the performance increases. Here is a video showing yesterday's video running alongside a POI-free N95 TomTom (on the right).
So for all of you who do not rely on speed camera warnings (blast!), here's the short-term answer.
I'm sure TomTom will release a new version soon that has better performance on the N95 (bear in mind that the N95 is not yet on TomTom's compatibilty list) and also accommodates the built-in GPS receiver. |

Background:
In June 2006 I got a Nokia N80 as an upgrade to my 6680. Imagine my disappointment when I found that TomTom ran on the N80 at such a low frame rate that I found it unusable. I sold the N80.
It is now June 2007 and I have received a Nokia N95 as an upgrade. Faster CPU, more memory, the bees knees.
I wasn't able to install TomTom right away because my N95 didn't come with a memory card, but while I was waiting for it to be delivered I tried out Nokia Maps and Google GMAPS. Both run superbly at a frame rate as smooth as you like.
As soon as the memory card (Sandisk Ultra II 2GB - didn't want slow memory to be an issue) arrived I got TomTom running on the N95 and...OH NO!!! It was worse than the N80!!!
Here's a video for you to see for yourselves.
Tech details:
Both phones were in Offline mode.
TomTom was the only app running.
6680 running TomTom 5.
N95 running TomTom 6.
Both displays have the same options.
6680 has a cheapo memory card.
N95 has a Sandisk Ultra II memory card.
If this is as good as TomTom gets on the N95 then I'll either get a refund on the TomTom 6 and sell my N95, or start using different sat nav software.

The 6630 is Nokia's first 3G smartphone, built on the Series 60 Symbian operating system with a wealth of pre-installed and downloadable applications. Physically it's reminiscent of the 3660, although its more compact and has a better keypad. In terms of functionality, it offers everything that the 7610 can do, with the addition of 3G, an improved camera, faster processor and more memory.
Business applications include full always-on email support, with support for Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and a built-in application for reading attachments such as Microsoft Word and Excel documents. With full broadband internet via 3G or EDGE, you can send and receive multimedia documents very quickly indeed.
Multimedia applications include a high-resolution digital camera (1.3 megapixels) with up to one hour of video capture. You can also download video or audio (MP3/AAC) for playback on the high quality 65k colour display and stereo headset. The 3G connection is fast enough to enjoy real time video streaming. The supplied software includes Nokia Video Editor and Movie Director so you can edit the videos that you record. The web browser provides advanced HTML support, including background images, frames and some JavaScript so browsing the web is a much richer experience than on most phones. The large screen is ideal for viewing all these applications. It's not the best screen in its class, but it's as as good as anything Nokia have previously produced and it's good enough. It's worth noting too that the headset provides for listening to MP3 in stereo, unlike some of the other Series 60 phones.
One feature that's notable by its absence is video calling. The 3G functions seem to be aimed primarily at providing fast communication, and the video calling function has been left out.
There's a full range of connectivity options, including wireless Bluetooth™ support, both for headsets / car kits and for all kinds of data transfer. You can synchronise your contacts remotely using Bluetooth or via a cable.
The internal memory of 10 Mbytes is not going to be enough for all of the functions available on this phone, but a 64 Mbyte memory card is supplied and this can be hot-swapped to store or transfer data. For users who download a lot of applications, the lack of internal memory may be a problem. We would expect this to be remedied in the next generation of 3G smartphones.
Battery life is excellent for a phone of this kind. Depending on usage, it should be possible to get a couple of days use from this phone between charges.
A word of caution: some users are reporting reliability problems with this phone and it would be well worth reading the user reviews below before purchasing. The 6630 has now been superseded by the Nokia 6680.

without any spare memory card on my "digicam cum video recorder", the last songs of Alive 2007 Uno was recorded in a Nokia 6680 phone.
Result? Surprisingly great audio but super blurry video.... sigh!
