This was on the CD that came with my Nokia N-Gage QD, hence I assume hardly anyone saw this.
Not sure if they changed the video later on (with more games getting released and Nokia picking up steam with the AAA titles) because I got the N-Gage QD as it just came out.
Nokia should have waited a year and released QD as the launch device in the 1st place and we'd all be playing N-Gage QDs. Still, its the best and most practical phone design out there. If ppl actually used one, they wouldn't be so box head and bag it out.
The whole video is abit postmodern with lots of irrelevant artistic shots spliced in between game footage.

This is the official video trailer for the first gen N-Gage action RPG X-Men Legends II: Rise Of Apocalypse. The game was released in 2005.
The first game was also released on the original N-Gage and QD and received positive reviews. The sequel, X-Men Legends II, was released for the original gen N-Gage/QD and used the same game engine.
Yes, I know it says "Apocolypse" at the beginning of the video, but that's a spelling mistake. The correct spelling is at the end of the video.

This is the official trailer for the original first gen N-Gage/QD version of Mile High Pinball. The game was released in 2005.
MHP has since been remade in a higher resolution version for the Next Gen N-Gage platform, but this video offers a glimpse of the original version.
The idea of the game is to make your way up a pinball table, starting at ground level and eventually reaching space. It's not so much a pinball simulator as a general arcade game.

Payload was the last ever game released for the original generation N-Gage/QD, released at the beginning of 2006. It was a desert-based combat racing game, and was rather unusual as it was the only commercial release which was download-only. There was no gamecard version of Payload, except perhaps for promotional purposes.
The game was released through Nokia's N-Gage Shop which allowed people to buy first party original gen N-Gage games as downloads. However, the shop has now been closed down, which means that there is absolutely no legal way to get hold of Payload any more.

This is the official trailer for the original first generation N-Gage/QD game Ashen. The game was released in early 2004.
Ashen is a gothic first person shooter, and the first ever game published by Nokia themselves. Perhaps the most unusual aspect of Ashen is the need to use "ghost goggles" to see certain enemies, who are otherwise invisible. The ghost goggles are a bit like a supernatural equivalent of night vision goggles, and transform the way the world looks to their user.
Ashen was very popular with fans of the original N-Gage, but it received fairly lukewarm reviews and Nokia has never talked about any sequels.
Ashen did have a cameo in the original version of Mile High Pinball, as there was a section of MHP that used Ashen as a theme.

High Seize was a very well-reviewed turn-based strategy game for the original gen N-Gage/QD, set in the Carribean during the age of piracy. The game was released in 2005.
It was done by RedLynx, who were also responsible for the original N-Gage/QD's probably most acclaimed game, the WW2 strategy Pathway To Glory. However, PTG aimed for realism, whereas High Seize perhaps borrows more from stylised games like Advance Wars.

Snakes is Nokia's 3D reworking of their classic phone game Snake. The first lower resolution version of Snakes was released for the original N-Gage and N-Gage QD in 2004.
The version shown here is the higher resolution version for Symbian S60 3rd Edition devices, and the device being used is the Nokia E61. It also works on any other S60 3rd Edition device, such as the N95.

N-Gage "Classic"/"Taco" (or the "Alpha" as I refer to it) Promotional Video
Can't remember when or where I got this video. It was certainly before the launch of the N-Gage, and most possibly the best example of a great concept being executed in the worst possible way.
I don't need to repeat the flaws of the device. Nobody seemed to forget them and fanatically slander the QD about it. Even though it was an exceptional phone that corrects all the flaws.
Nokia certainly boned from the very start their possible major gaming breakthrough platform. |
