At almost 10 minutes long, this latest addition to the Project-JK video collection is by far the most extensive one that Cindy has done to date and in my opinion, her best one as well. In it, you will see trip highlights from our August 2007 run up to the Buck Rock Trail which is located close to Hume Lake and Sequoia National Park. As luck would have it, our first morning in Moab was met with freezing cold temperatures and steady snow still falling from the storm that followed us in the day before. And, while there was a bit of a break in the weather as we headed into town for some breakfast, the forecast still called for more snow later in the day and so we decided to do our first official Project-JK Easter Jeep Safari 2008 run up Steel Bender with both the top and doors on. Unfortunately for us, Jen (toad) and Jeff (Bullfrog) had other obligations they needed to attend to that day so the only people that would be going on this run would be Jason (SDMF), Cindy (WOLette) and I.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Steel Bender, it is a beautiful trail that takes you through impressive canyons, multiple water crossings, up over ledge after ledge (most can be bypassed) and across plateaus with outstanding views. However, I should note that there is one steep ledge that you will have to slide down (there is no bypass) and it will deliver a good pucker factor as there is a big ass drop-off to the right that just so happens to have a landing that's bit off camber in that direction.

On Saturday, July 28, 2007, four days after my leg cast came off, I was up shooting video at the Rambler/AMC/Jeep show in Kenosha, WI, the largest such show in the country.
Felt real good to be back on two legs again.
And before you start writing in with blood in your eyes, yes, I know the Alliance pictured isn't an '83; convertibles didn't come out till a few years later. This one was the only one at the show. Encores, Medallions, Sportwagons and Premiers weren't there at all. You owners of '83 to '88 Renault cars should be better represented at next year's show; they were as much a part of the AMC story as the Rambler and the Jeep. |
