París, verano de 1984.
Manu llega a París, donde comparte una habitación barata con su hermana Julie en un barrio periférico, con prostitutas como vecinas. Su primer encuentro en París es de noche, en un parque al borde del Sena, con Adrien, un adinerado doctor cincuentón que le abre los ojos a Manu a una forma de vida diferente.
En una salida en lancha, Adrien le presenta a Manu a Sarah y Mehdi, una joven pareja que acaba de tener a su primer hijo.
Un romance no planeado y el principio de la epidemia de SIDA, vista por los medios de comunicación y la imaginación colectiva como una plaga moderna vergonzosa, alteran la ordenada tranquilidad de sus destinos individuales. Cada uno se convierte en protagonista y testigo de una tragedia contemporánea, en la que aquellos que no mueren pueden resurgir más fuertes, pero nunca sin sufrir daños.
