For all you young'ns who never heard of an Edsel, the Edsel was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company between 1958 to 1960. Although the Edsel was a excellent automobile, Ford ceased their manufacture because they were not popular with the American public. Folks just didn't appreciate the styling and didn't understand if it was supposed to be a step up or step below the Mercury. It was said to be "The wrong car at the wrong time." The word Edsel became synonomous with 'commercial faiure'.
In 1960 the Edsel Comet was reassigned to the Mecury Division and did very well. Later, in 1970 Ford released the Maverick which shared the Comet's body style. One might say the Ford Maverick was an Edsel. |

A relic of the short "New Coke" era, one that ranks right up there with the Edsel and the RCA Videodisc in terms of collossal failures. The people at competing Pepsi took great delight in this as you can see in this commercial where some old guys switch to Pepsi since they can't get the old Coke anymore. |

Op het eerste gezicht lijkt het leven van Jill een droom. Haar vriend Simon, een jurist, is net door de prestigieuze trustmaatschappij Ubbink, Kauffman & Tobey op Aruba aangesteld en ze wonen in een prachtig appartement aan de turquoise zee. Toch gaat het niet goed met Jill. Haar relatie staat op springen en ze voelt zich verloren op het eiland waar iedereen vriendelijk doet, maar niemand haar echt kent.
Een duikcursus biedt afleiding. Maar als blijkt dat haar instructeur Edsel meer weet van de verdwijning van de Amerikaanse toeriste Christine Bird, en zelfs heeft vastgezeten vanwege vermeende betrokkenheid bij moord, pakken donkere wolken zich samen boven Jills hoofd. Als zij op een dag na een drift-duik onder leiding van Edsel bovenkomt, is de boot weg. Het enige wat ze ziet is water... |

Spot won a Colorado Broadcasters Award in 1999 or so for Best Sponsored Promo (or Best Commercial... can't remember category just now)
One other tidbit - this software rarely worked properly. Toward the end of our usage, it didn't work at all, displaying temperatures drastically off, locking up, etc. I was told the company went out of business. Wonder why. Cool thing is this type of desktop/phone/pager (remember pagers??) was way ahead of its time, being 1999. Just like the Edsel.
