La Rioja cuenta con la primera Denominación de Origen de peras que se creó en España para las peras: la de las Peras de Rincón de Soto. Este distintivo de calidad ampara las peras de mesa, para el consumo en fresco, de las variedades blanquilla y conferencia. Y para ello, se tienen que haber recogido, conservado y manipulado en una zona muy concreta del Este de La Rioja: la comprendida por los municipios de Rincón de Soto, Aldeanueva de Ebro, Alfaro y Calahorra.
¿Y por qué las peras de esta zona? La respuesta es sencilla: son distintas a las cultivadas en otros lugares. Por una parte, por las características de la fruta, provocadas por el microclima especial de la zona, y, por otra, por las características propias de producción aplicadas por los agricultores y las centrales hortofrutícolas.
Respecto a lo primero, el producto presenta un índice de penetromía (queremos decir, de consistencia) y determinadas características organolépticas -como el grado de azúcar- superior al de otras regiones, así como un calibre mayor al común y una verdosidad notable. O sea, que son peras más grandes, más dulces, de un verde más intenso y más consistentes que el resto. Además, pueden distinguirse a simple vista por una característica muy apreciada en las peras: el russeting natural en la piel; es decir, zonas de color verde más oscuro y más rugosas que el resto.
Y hablemos de lo segundo, de las características de producción (es decir, de cultivo, almacenaje y comercialización). Resulta que todo el proceso en esta zona está caracterizado y está orientado a obtener una calidad especial de las peras. Además, y esto es importante por los conocimientos heredados de padres a hijos, el cultivo de la pera en la zona está basado en la tradición: posee una vinculación histórica de la que ya existe constancia en el siglo XVII.
Las peras amparadas por la Denominación Peras de Rincón de Soto se comercializan con un logotipo propio con el nombre "Peras de Rincón de Soto" en la etiqueta, que también está numerada.

These are some images of the 1958 Desoto Firemite I have gathered over the years. they were a factory sponsored gas powered promotional car used by dealers to attract in customers. They have a 2 HP Briggs and Stratton 6B motor and a vacuum formed plastic body. The plastic body is what killed them between the vibration of the motor and the road along with inexperienced drivers tended to kill them. there are only 5 currently known still around and they are very expensive if you can even find one. My website www.jrcentral.com has a lot more information on these and other powered promotionals. these would be considered G0-karts by today's standards not pedal cars but they were never made for speed they were for style! |
