The full version of the newest beautiful Coca Cola commercial
A lot of people have asked me if I could send them this video. The answer: No, I can't. It's not that I don't want to, but I don't have the original file on my pc anymore. Alternatively, you could use a Youtube/Flv download site like vixy.net. Hope that helps =) |

Coca Cola "Genesis"
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1)
Some further toughts on Coke. You can put them in context to the clip or ignore them and just enjoy the video.
"Coca-Cola's advertising has had a significant impact on American culture, and is frequently credited with the "invention" of the modern image of Santa Claus (...).
Coca-Cola has been criticized for its possible negative health effects, including many urban myths."
(Wikipedia.org)
"One of The Coca-Cola Company's fundamental principles for conducting business around the world is respect for human and labor rights. We treat all our employees in over 200 countries in which we do business with fairness, dignity and respect. We and our bottling partners operate in accordance with local laws and we contribute to the communities we serve."
(The Coca Cola Company)
"(...) And now human rights groups and anti-poverty campaigners are calling for a global boycott of the world's most powerful drink - the latest in a string of multinational brands that have been pilloried for allegedly unethical and inhumane behaviour. (...) Campaigners accuse Coke of using ruthless tactics to ensure that it remains the world's number one brand. Coca-Cola, they allege, has caused droughts and poisoned water supplies in rural India, been linked to paramilitary gangs in Colombia and turned a blind eye to violent attacks on trade unionists in Latin America, Asia and Russia. (...)
(S. Carrell, The Independent)
"Coca-Cola has gone through a number of different advertising slogans in its long history, including, "(It's) The Real Thing", "Life tastes good", "Always Coca-Cola" and "Coke Side of Life". (Wikipedia.org)
"We live in a world where we make choices every day and The Coke Side of Life encourages people to make those choices positive ones. This new campaign invites people to create their own positive reality, to be spontaneous, listen to their hearts and live in full color."
(Marc Mathieu, The Coca-Cola Company)
Other theorists over time have linked kitsch to totalitarianism. The Czech writer Milan Kundera (...) defined it as "the absolute denial of shit." His argument was that kitsch functions by excluding from view everything that humans find difficult to come to terms with, offering instead a sanitised view of the world in which "all answers are given in advance and preclude any questions."
(wikipedia.org)
"LIFE TASTES BETTER WITH COCA COLA"
"Sarcasm is sneering, jesting, or mocking a person, situation or thing. It is strongly associated with irony, with some definitions classifying it as a type of verbal irony stating the opposite of the intended meaning. It is often used in a humorous manner and is expressed through vocal intonations such as over-emphasizing the actual statement or particular words. Use of sarcasm is sometimes viewed as an expression of concealed anger." (Wikipedia.org) |

1950s ADVENTURES OF KIT CARSON Coca-Cola commercial featuring star Bill Williams and Hank Patterson. Brooklyn-born Williams (real name Henry Katt) played the famed frontiersman in 105 episodes of the popular ADVENTURES OF KIT CARSON television series, which was sponsored by Coca-Cola during its first-run syndication (1951-1955). Familiar character actor, Hank Patterson (1888-1975) portrayed the show's narrator, "Sierra Jack", who began each show relating that week's episode to a group kids seated outdoors in western togs drinking bottles of Coca Cola. Patterson also provided the bridges between commercials -- which were seamlessly intergrated into the the show -- carefully as well as a brief summery of next week's episode. Back in 1999, my friend and I had created this movie on 2 (old) PC's at his house. Our intention was to show our 3D graphic capabilities to post-production companies.
We also took it to Coca-Cola.
They loved it.
However, when we asked if they would like to use it, they told us that it does not go hand in hand with their advertising campaign.
About two months ago - 7 years after they've seen our presentation - Coca Cola released a similar movie.
You can watch it at:

Enjoy.

This was right after "The New Coke" had been heralded as new and Coca-Cola started to promote it as just "Coke", though it still had the "New!" on the can. (Kinda like how George Lucas says the revised versions of the "Star Wars" movies are the real versions.) They brought in a new theme song (this time done in the style of George Benson's "On Broadway") with the "Coke Is It" slogan they'd been using a couple years already.
The very day this commercial was taped, Coke announced they were bringing back the old Coke.
It's been 22 years since then, so can we PLEASE get the word "Classic" taken off the current Coke labels now?? |
