His movies were and still are awsome. Especially when you look at everything else that was coming out in the late 60's and early 70's. He was 30 years ahead of his time.
When you look at how bruce lee trained through his books (not his movies) he was actually a well rounded mma fighter. In his own series of books he displayed a knowledge of wrestling skills, boxing, judo (he trained with gene lebell). He had everything from a proper fighting stance to take down defences which he called "Tackle Defence".
To sum it up. The guy was 40 years ahead of his time. And that goes for making movies as well as Martial Arts. Every Martial Arts fighter or fan across the planet owes him a lot.

I would like to thank everyone that took the time to view this video. I encourage everyone to be open minded with the on going debate in martial arts. Yes, I would love to see a fight between Bruce Lee and any of the top MMA guys but I rather focus on the fact that martial arts have truly evolved over the years so there's really no need for who can beat who or what's better than so and so. The following is from Jeff Yang, "Bruce Lee," in Eastern Standard Time: A Guide to Asian Influence on American Culture, eds. Jeff Yang et al. (Boston/New York: Meridian/Houghton Mifflin, 1997), p. 95:
"Lee was born November 27, 1940, the son of Lee Hoi Chuen, a well known comic actor and a member of the ensemble cast of the 99-episode Wong Fei Hong series that launched modern Hong Kong filmmaking. His mother, Grace, was a Shanghainese transplant who had been raised a Catholic, and was the daughter of a German father and a Chinese mother. The Lees frequently traveled abroad from their home in Hong Kong, going wherever Hoi Chuen's opera troupe was booked; Lee Jun Fan, the boy who would be given the English name of Bruce, was born on one of those trips overseas in San Francisco, California. Dr. Mary Glover, the supervising physician at his birth, gave him the English name Bruce. Later, Bruce's younger sister gave him a monicker that became the name by which he conquered Asia, and then the world — Siu Long, or 'Little Dragon.'" |

This is a little tribute I made to Bruce Lee. What I respect most about him is that he was a real man, a great human being, and a real martial artist. Bruce never gave up on his dreams, and he achieved so much in his short life time. For that reason, he remains an inspiration to many. I hope you enjoy this little tribute. It is an edited version of my old one.
I want to thank his wife, Linda Lee Cadwell, and his daughter, Shannon, for keeping his memory alive in a positive light. |

+ If you're planning to say something negative about the scenes of this video or especially about Lee, this is something you want to read before posting a comment.
If you're going to say things like "Bruce Lee was an actor, nothing more", at least watch the video first and think again. There's multiple demonstrations, including the one with a seasoned Wing Chun practitioner - with Lee blindfolded, and there's multiple speed and strenght demonstrations. Also a music video of mine ("Bruce Lee..." by Targetius) shows some demonstrations and things like that. Anyway, Bruce Lee was a man who trained for several hours a day. Especially his muscles and overall fitness - that shows out pretty well. He was always a martial artist first and actor second.
It is OK to ask questions, but if you choose not to believe something about Bruce Lee, remember that I'm not here to argue or find you evidence on something. It is your duty to find out more about the matter or do some research. Only then you are really able to tell how the thing probably is.
+Oh yeah and if you're talking negative things about something you don't know anything about, you'll probably get just blocked and your comments removed. That happens especially with childish actions. Also, I am not into debates and this is not the place anyway.
There is no need to talk much about very young Bruce Lee. This is about the man, not the child.
So in a nutshell: If you don't like something in this clip or dramatically disagree with something seen here or about Lee,
I don't give a shit. |
