28 May 1997. Munich - Olympiastadion.Karl-Heinz Riedle put Dortmund ahead finishing from Paul Lambert's cross. Riedle then made it 2 with a bullet header from a corner kick. In the second half, Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero, who had come on as a substitute, scored on a heel deflection after a cross, to make the score 2-1. Then 20 year old substitute and Dortmund local boy Lars Ricken latched on to a through pass by Andreas Möller. Only 16 seconds after coming on to the pitch Ricken chipped Angelo Peruzzi in the Juve goal from over 20 yards with his first touch of the ball. Ricken became the youngest player ever to score in a Champions League final, and his goal was the fastest ever by a substitute in said event. With Zinedine Zidane unable to make an impression against Lambert's marking, Juve were beaten. The 3 - 1 victory gave Borussia their first — and only to date — Champions League title. |

First time since 20 years that dortmund came in the 2nd round of an international tournament. A year before relegation and very close to second division, a year later winning the german cup, and than big success came. It was a beginning with friendship between celtic and dortmund suporters, every dortmund fan, who was lucky to get a ticket for this game will never forget it! Greetings to everyone in scotland, happy new year and hope the clubs will meet soon! 1:0 Norbert Dickel 74. 2:0 Norbert Dickel 86. The German Bundesliga is THE best place to watch football - and Borussia Dortmund has the best fans, the best stadium with the best atmosphere anywhere! With attendances for league games regularly selling out the 81000 capacity, Dortmund is the best supported team in Europe, and the famous 'Südtribune' is the largest football terracing in Europe, with more than 26000 fans standing behind the goal. A season ticket for the Südtribune costs only around 170€, and a single match ticket costs less than 15€. If you've been there, you'll enjoy this reminder of the atmosphere. If you've never been... well, you haven't lived. |

One of the most important goals of then 18 years old Lars Ricken. This goal was barely needed to reach the quarterfinals of UEFA-Cup and he scored it in the extra-time about three minutes before the match was over. |

Alle Videos zum Spiel: www.schwatzgelb.de Alle Videos von schwatzgelb.de: www.schwatzgelb.de WOW! Even 2 hours after the match, I cant still really believe it! We have beaten, no, we have destroyed the team with the least defeats, Bayer Vizekusen, 3-0 and proved that we are ready, no, more than ready for Europe. Once again, a popular song was impossible to be overheard in the Westfalenstadion and over 80.000 fans (minus the fans of Vizekusen) celebrated the victory, dreaming about what could be so near: First round to Olmütz, then HSV, perhaps to Liberec keep on dreaming, Dortmund fans around the world this year, this dream can finally become true! Then, suddenly, everything changed. Suddenly, we had opportunities, suddenly, there was Kevin Großkreutz who only had German national Keeper Rene Adler in front of him, but Adler got his foot on the ball. The result was a corner kick, which was brought in from the right by Tamas Hajnal, elongated by Owomoyela and then, suddenly, Lucas Barrios was where a goalgetter has to be. In the middle of the action, scoring and blowing off the roof of the Westfalenstadion (50th). Borussia! Borussia BVB! The atmosphere was terrific; everyone was on their feet and once again dreaming about Europe. Nine minutes later, Barrios intercepted a pass of Barnetta and showed all his quality. One look to Vizekusens goal, noticing, that Adler is standing on the edge of the penalty area, chipping the ball from a distance of 44 metres and almost scoring ... |

All Videos from schwatzgelb.de: www.schwatzgelb.de Westfalenstadion did not allow beautiful game play since the pitch surrendered from the strong winter so far. But when just a couple of minutes were played, Kuba got the leather on the right wing and gave a magnificent cross into the penalty area. Lucas Barrios, almost ideally served, could not make use of this, responding to the pass with an odd move (2). Afterwards, both teams tried to demonstrate safety first by securing the midfield and the defence. A free-kick was then the next chance, but for the opponent. Trochowskis free-kick from 20m slightly missed the left post (9). But this was the last voice Hamburg had. First, Sven Benders hammer missed the target by a few centimetres (24). Moments later, Valdez nicely served Barrios, who boosted a shot but missed Frank Rosts goal (26). A critical situation arose just a minute later: Schmelzer was ready to bring in a dangerous ball from within the box and was pushed by Trochowsi but no whistle, so no penalty here (28). But shortly afterwards, Borussia was compensated for the effort. Schmelzer brought in a cross which was weakly defended by Aogo. Valdez got to the ball, took position and smashed it into the nets from 18m- 1:0. Hamburg was unable to respond and there were no more notable events in the first half. Second Half Owomoyela agianst JansenThe second half began with Jansen, who snitched the leather from Owomoyela, but whose shot was saved by Ziegler (49). Just minutes ... |
