This is a fake trailer for a play I was in. All of the lines are lines from the play, said by their respective actors. The play is actually a comedy. My first trailer, I thought it turned out pretty well. (Read the synopsis of the play if you want to know what its actually about. This isn't really for advertising purposes). Saturday, March 29, 2008. Occidental College is one of 29 local institutions throughout Southern California reinventing one of Allan Kaprow's happenings through collaboration with MOCA.
"Labor Day" originally occurred in Milan, Italy in 1971. It involved videotaping the actions of changing tires and shoveling dirt, performed on a race track and a circular route around a city respectively, reflecting the daily cycles of labor.
Disclaimer: "Happenings are coordinated by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and made possible by the generous support from the Getty Foundation. Allan Kaprow - Art As Life is organized by the Haus der Kunst, Munich and the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven. The exhibition is on view at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA from March 23 to June 30, 2008." |

Capitalism! BRING IT ON, conceived for the Euopean Kunsthalle consists of three loosely connected parts reflecting how notions of public space has changed in our present time. The local cheerleading group GoldFlash will every Saturday activate the area of the Neumarkt Galerie shopping mall through a mixture of celebration and soft architecture, performing highly acrobatic choreographies and architecture like formations such as pyramids. A container equipped with a large sign of the European Kunsthalle will be placed on the Neumarkt proposing a different promise of a contemporary art institution. The local Kartell store is further engaged to function as the dressing room for teh cheerleaders, and in addition a publication will be assembled through a collabroation with Van Abbemuseum as a pro-active insertion into discourses around public-space, democracy and the empowering potentiality of culturalproduction. |

This is a project by Allard van Hoorn.
These public installations are constructed with colorful shopping bags stuck into fences and resemble flower-bouquet-like mosaics. In its environment the Mandala functions as a link between the inner values like hope and the will to survive and the urban circumstances that dictate social change and development.
This is the Urban Mandala for the 'Kruidenbuurt' in Eindhoven. I will collaborate with the inhabitants to create the work. For the collaboration I depart from the newly launched slogan for the 'Kruidenbuurt': 'Aangenaam anders' or ' Pleasantly different'... |

There is a dream of a future, this is the imagined city.
There is a multiplicity of cities within each city. Each urban culture and each individuality creates an imagined city where we live. A great deal of what we construct in our daily life has to do with a future projection of our desires, of our wishes, of our fears, of our possibilities. Social reality is put together through its inhabitants, and thus, the city and how it is lived as well. We can then see the city as ghostly layers, that coexist, interact and sometimes even intertwine.
This is a project by Ilana Boltvinik and Monica Hernadez. |

VPG-DVD-163 - MARSEILLE
Marseille is the oldest city in France and its largest commercial harbour in the Mediterranean. It is believed that in 600 B.C. travellers from the Greek town of Phokis founded the autonomous town of 'Massalia'. In the Middle Ages the city's main harbour was used by the crusaders to embark on their journey to Jerusalem and it rivalled those of the maritime republics of Genoa, Pisa and Venice.
One of Marseille's main landmarks rises high above the harbour, the seafarers' church of Notre-Dame-De-La-Garde. It towers above the city like a fortress and on its bell tower is a gilded ten metre high figure of the Virgin Mary.
Several hundred yachts of all sizes crowd into the old harbour where there is often little room for the comings and goings of modern day sailors. It is difficult to imagine that once near-starving slaves were forced to use their last ounce of strength to row their master's galleys into the harbour.
Modern harbour complexes require a great deal of space as is well demonstrated by Marseille's new harbour and after Rotterdam it is the second largest in Europe. Two mighty fortresses overlook the harbour: the northern Fort Saint-Jean is the oldest and was used by the Order Of The Knights Of Malta; the Fort Saint Nicolas stands guard over the southern side of the narrow harbour entrance and was built in the 17th century.
The tiny island of Chateau D`If was made famous due to a novel by Alexander Dumas, The Count Of Monte Christo. A small museum features many items related to this classic novel and visitors can search for the hole in the wall through which Edmond Dantès is said to have entered the Abbé Faria.
A boat trip from Cassis leads to one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Europe: Les Calanques a unique nature reserve. Shining white limestone cliffs plunge more than four hundred metres into the deep blue sea and extend for twenty kilometres.
Marseille - France's wonderful gateway to Africa! |
